trust your gut! men are very persuasive but you gut never lies. if you feel that he is trying to cover something up, then try to uncover it. if you gut is telling you that you might be blowing this situation out of proportion, then that is probably the case. at which time you should apologize for accusing him and ask for forgivness

Trust him but do not be blind. Let it slide off for now because as you said, he reallyu had enough time to remove it and was probably just teasing you but tell him that you would not tolerate any such jokes from now on and if you find any other things, he will have to face the music to your satisfaction. This is only to be said so that in case, there is another such incident, you can have him by his collar.

The worst thing you can do is be in a relationship not built on trust. Trust your gut. Did he act guilty when you asked him about it? Find someone you can trust. Both guys and girls can make excellent liers.

Forget the confusion and go with your feelings.
If it feels like he was fn around then that's exactly what was happening.. Your other option is to disregard your feelings (don't look at them), but remember this... They will never go away weither you look at them or not..
My best advice is (right or wrong) always go with what you feel. You will be a lot safer that way.

At least he is using protection.
Does he have roommates? Could be a solution to the puzzle.
