...act like homosexuality is a bigger sin than the others? They're so insanely focused on it. And if you believe it's a sin, that's fine, that's not the point. The point is: why do they spend so much time on that subject? Shouldn't the focus be more about faith and love and unity and a relationship with God? So what's the obsession? I don't get it. A sin is a sin. All sins are equal in the eyes of God, so let's quit comparing the homosexuality to something as horrible as murder.

religion has always been a way for the dominant culture to maintain dominance and power, while giving those subjected to the rule of the dominant justification for listening to another human being. If you read the bible, men were allowed to own slaves, concubines, their wives, and their children. Through out the history of our country, the bible has served as a justification for all the injustices that have been performed against those with less power. This is another instance.

I think that society in general have been taught that people who live by the christian values of love your neighbor, don't kill, steal, or cheat on your partner, etc live by all the values of the christian church. One of these values is the ideal of the nuclear family (dad, mom, and kids). I think that they are afraid that if you deviate from any part of the values outlined (including those regarding sexual deviations) that a person will say 'to hell with all of it'. This way of thinking may be attributed to the fact that christians believe that we are all sinners (and slaves of selfishness) and they have no faith in people and their own internal conscience.

I think the focus isn't on comparing the sin of homosexuality and murder. As a matter of fact, I have never heard that. But think about this. Murder isn't on trial here, if someone is murdered, as a society we don't question whether it is a sin, we know it is and we have a judicial system that we use to protect us from murderers. Homosexuality, because of indifference is now making every state to have to vote on what marriage is, which by the way is one man and one woman. How crazy is that? I don't think no one expected to have to explain marriage and then go as far to get a definition in the laws. Wow! I guess that would explain why some focus seems to be on this sin. People for far too long have not been preparing for our Lord to come back. It's like the two ladies in the field. One is gone in the blink of an eye whilst the other is left here. They worked a field together. I hope "the fields" we work in... we are telling others about their Savior Jesus so the fields can be empty.

Homosexuality is a big focal point right now because of tomorrow's elections. Many states are voting on whether gays should be allowed to marry and have the same rights as heterosexual marriage or not. Then with some Republics and Christians that have publicly said that they oppose gay marriage and that being gay is a sin, some have been charged with being gay, or have admitted to having a gay relationship, while being married to a women. The Democrats find this out and run with it and make the hypocrits well known, mostly to gain elections. That's way many Christians/churches are focused on this issue.

Every year or election year, there is a different focal point. Prostitution, drunkeness, embezzling, slander, etc. This year I guess it homosexuality. After these elections, all the states will either change their constitution to allow gay marriage or keep marriage a sanctity between one man and one woman. Then in a few weeks or months, something else will be focused on.

You are right that all sins are equal in the eyes of God. So in your last sentence you should change it to "so let's quit comparing homosexuality to murder, it's all the same" or "so let's forgive homosexuals and murders". God will forgive any sinner that repents and reconciles with him and changes his evil ways.

Peace!

I don't think most Christians are obsessed with Homosexuality. I remember growing up it was hardly ever talked about.

It's a big deal now because Homosexuals (in general) are trying to get the rest of society to approve of their lifestyle. What I see is not Christians making an offensive move - but strictly a defensive move.

I think most Christians would be more than happy to say, "Hey - you're free to lead as deviant a lifestyle as you want, in the privacy of your own bedroom. Just don't do it in front of my kids, don't make the schools teach my kids it's normal, and don't force me to acknowledge it as normal."

We don't want judges overwriting the will of the people (on average 2/3 of the people, or better, are against homosexual marriages, yet judges keep overwriting the will of the people).

As a side-note, homosexuality differs in this way from all other sins. You don't see any other group which gathers together based solely on the sin they choose to commit, and lobby to get approval from society.

You're exactly right all sin is the same. Homosexuality is not a bigger sin than something else. A sin is anything that separates you from God.

I think it may just be that homosexuality is one of the few sins that is so disputed by the culture. You don't see many people complaining about the commandment regarding murder or stealing for instance. But we should be diligent about keeping all the commandments....not turning our backs to any (and that includes the command to love one another as you mentioned)

Why is it that homosexuals can not get the concept that it is the homosexual act... not the homosexual that is the abomination to God... and why do you still not see that ALL sins are sins... in your own words"equal in the eyes of God"... so, a homosexual act is equal to murder. that is exactly how those who strive to follow God's will see it.... now, a homosexual has the same / equal oportunity to come to God in The Way He proscribes and to receive His free gift of Salvaton as any other sinner... but it must be in God's Way not the individuals way... That is where the homosexual community is off... they seem to think they should get some special treatment even from God... it don't work that way.... All are equal in God's eyes... and All must come to God in The Way... and only in The Way.... All who do not will suffer the same / equal fate... All who do come to God in The Way will enter Heaven...hint... it is not sin that keeps anyone out of Heaven... so even past homosexual acts will not keep anyone out of Heaven.

I think you're contradicting yourself; and, I think it is a discriminating generality to focus on Christians in your question.

If a sin is a sin, and all sins are equal in the eyes of God, by your own words, homosexuality (the act--not the condition) is as horrible as murder, or gossip or backbiting. Sin is sin is sin. You can only murder someone, physically, once; but, with your tongue you can kill his soul and your own, over and over and over. There are no small or large sins in the eyes of God, it's all sin.

I think its because the rest of the world doesn't see homosexuality as sin and so Christians are just trying to point out that what some are doing is morally wrong against God.

Christianity does not have a unique war with homosexuality. But like it or not, sexual sin is perhaps the most prevalent sin today in our society. In the Bible God condemns homosexuality, as do other forms of sexual immorality. But unlike in the past where all these sins are condemned, we have today a gay/homosexual agenda that tries to promote itself not as a sin issue but as a biological one and thus outside of moral regulation. We have a minority group trying to impose their sexual mores on the majority and demanding that the majority accept their sexual lifestyle, under pain of criminal discrimination or hate speech laws. These people want the majority to be tolerant of them (they define tolerant not as bearing with something you don't accept, but accepting something you do not tolerate) and treat them like any other morally upright person, yet they are intolerant of those who do not accept their way of living and who speak against such behaviour. The church has all along spoken out against sexual immorality. But in recent times the homosexual agenda has been propagated and forced upon the public, and it is not surprising that the church has also issued a stronger voice in response.
