I have to agree with this statement. I currently consider myself agnostic. I am not rejecting the idea of a god, but I have concluded after many many years of bible study that it seems to have a lot of holes in it. I have not totally discreditted it. I believe that the writers of the bible sincerely wrote what they percieved as their experience of god. However, I do not believe that the bible has been divinely inspired. I also don't believe that it has not been modified, changed, added to, and taken away from even though I was taught growing up that it is as good as a fax from the old man upstairs.
I would love to believe in the idea of a god, but i am not sure that I do. I may not ever truly believe. But if there is a god, I respect him (even though I sometimes mock christians' know-it-all attitude).
For the record, I do not mean to mock the beliefs of christians who conduct themselves with christian characteristics (love, humility, kindness, patience, etc). I am merely mocking the attitude of those people who call themselves christians, making the entire group of christians look like big-headed, know-all bigots.
I hope all you non-christians know that the bigots are not a fair representation of the people within the christian church.

As a Christian I agree with you, but the disease that you talk about only happens in Europe and America. When people don't have jobs, they give themselves one-In American , everything is business and lobbying for government favor has moved to lobbying for God.If you want to pray, go quietly and pray in a Church or elsewhere , where no one sees you and say your piece.Jesus did the same quietly away from his disciplines, rode a donkey and died being cheated by a friend. We don't need grandeur that we have to go to church very Sunday, God is in the worst places and the smallest places-Do what in your heart whatever you want to do.TO actually ask this question is by itself reflective of a good person...hell with anyone who says they can speak to God better then you-God does not discriminate.Be strong and be quiet in your relationship with God.You have a choice to choose your God. I chose Jesus because I like his style and I can follow and love him.I don't need a Mercedes Benz or diamonds which are stolen from Africa and Africans are dying because of Mercury poison. That is a sin! When will the donkeys in the USA learn where the diamond came from and at what suffering and price!!!!

No, Jessie, I really don't. Maybe you come from an area different than mine. I was raised Catholic, turned away from it due mostly to boredom. Did not practice any religion for many years...wasn't even sure if I believed in God. In the last year, I needed something in my life. I was full of unhappiness in my current life situation. I was invited to a local church and I am spiritually "home". No one is shoving it down my throat, so I am taking it all in with an open heart. I hope you find whatever brings you peace in your life.

wow! how can a witness of jesus christ respond to this statement? Christians act like God because they program their minds with the verses of the bible.
but they are programmed from the pulpit and told what to believe and Not what is always the truth.
in most of the world, God is replaced by their own religions' bible and scriptures. therefor the bible, torah, koran, and other books have become the idololatry that leads to a false god. The trinity is a false god because it has its foundations in the imagination of a man.
when a man in a church asks for people to give money to him and at the same time says You are giving to God, yet he goes and buys a diamond ring who is really getting the money?
Can you see what i am trying to say?

God has always spoken through men to reach others. This was of course the case with Moses, who went up to the top of the mountain to receive the Ten Commandments from God which he then passed on to the people. And God still calls witnesses to preach the Gospel to others...not based on merit (so no one has a right to boast)...but His sovereign will. It is written:
41He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen--by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."
Though He also speaks directly to anyone who has an ear to hear Him. As Jesus said, "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me."

Well, I don't reject Christians OR God. I reject Christianity, I ignore God (as not existing) and I like quite a few Christians.

No I reject god with all my heart mind and soul. I love people who have faith in god, but don't hate others for being different like the Evangies and Fundies.
