it is a sign of trust but.......also a sign that the cat wants to mate with you.male or female they all do it.not only females go in heat but you can most def tell when a female does.when a male marks his place he's not only marking it he's also telling females that he's ready to mate.some people find it gross or strange that their pet cat will show their bum or flip on it's side, bite you a bit or rub against you, there leting you know that they have choose you as a mate.not all cats do this for that reason alone some do it out of love for there owner or for affection from another cat.ans another reason, they just wanna play.

Partly true. If a cat does not trust you, he will never take his eyes off of you and may crouch in a "ready-to-attack" stance. If he turns his back on you (gives you his backend) he is showing trust. If he lays on his back, it usually means he wants to play. Just wiggle your fingers above him and you'll see exactly what he wants.

Yes, a cat showing you its belly means it trusts you. The cat really trusts you if you can touch his belly without him taking your fingers off;) But even if a cat doesn't show its belly to someone, that doesn't mean they don't trust them. The majority of cats don't like exposing their bellies because it is their most vulnerable spot.
And yes, only females go into heat.

All cats are known to do this at times - yes, it is an expression of trust. They're revealing their throat to you, which they wouldn't do if they didn't trust you explicitly. Generally this 'rolling over' is done by a cat, lazying about, and is used as a way of saying 'Hello!' without being bothered to get up.

I can think of other things that showing his backend might mean!
But I think it does show trust to turn their back to you or lay on their back.

Truth. If the cat is laying on it's back it's throat is exposed and it can't defend it'self. It's showing you it trusts you. Same with showing you it's backend. It can't react to what it can't see.

Yes, laying on their back is also a sign of submission. They are proclaiming that you are the alpha being. Our new kitten LOVES to play, wrestle, bite, jump on the older cats. They HATE it. When they get tired of it and hiss at him, he rolls over onto his back with his paws sticking up in the air. It is so funny looking.
