large curlers half way up your head to create big waves on the ends, and a curling iron to make smaller, tighter waves. Then shake them loose, for a messier, casual look.

This is a time consuming hair style. Use a volumizing mousse in damp hair then blow-dry your hair straight, but flip your head over to blow-dry the roots. That will give you some volume. Use a big curling iron like a 1, 1 1/2, or 2 inch, and curl just the bottom part of your hair. Use your fingers to separate the curls and shake your hair a little to loosen the waves. If you don't want to use a curling iron, you can use big rollers, but you have to be careful, cause you might end up with TOO much volume. I highly suggest the curling iron.

I also have super straight hair and it's very thin. Two products that have really helped me are made by Redken, from the "Body Full" line. The first is called "plump treat" you apply it to towel dried hair then dry as usual. It makes me look like I have much thicker hair than I actually do. The other is called "weightlifter" it gives your roots a lift, kind of like the hairstyle in the picture. They're both around $13.00 each. I'm not much help with the styling aspect, but these products are wonderful for adding volume and giving lift. (P.S. I don't work for Redken, just love the products!)
