I love making my own coffee at home, but tried the Colombian one and it's too oily. The Ethiopian I'm using for the moment isn't too bad. Have used Illy (Italian) and Carte Noir (French) before. Any suggestions to enjoy a nice cup in the morning ? Tks.

I know it's a shame, but I don't actually buy the beans, I get it ground already.

Get a coffee bean grinder! I got mine for $4 from Woolworths. But I might have just been lucky with a wrong entry into the system :P It's so much more satisfying doing the beans yourself coz you can pick how coarse or fine you want them, and that probably affects the coffee slightly.

Well, if you buy ground coffee (and there is nothing wrong with that), I highly suggest putting the open container in the freezer to reduce exposure to air. That will keep it fresh and lovely for a lot longer than just leaving it on the counter or in the cupboard. Also, I always try to put a little more than the recommended measure of grounds because I find that the recommended measure leaves the coffee a little weak. At least for my taste. One last thing, never make more than you can drink, since coffee tastes it's best within 20 minutes of brewing.

Carte Noire is the best on the French market. We stock up each time we go to France.Once a pack is open we keep it in an airtight tin. I suppose you have experimented with the quantities you put in your percolator?
Dowge Herbert (Belgian) is not bad as a fall back.
We drink a lot of pure Arabica, which is excellent.

I've just been given some from the Dominican Republic which tastes really interesting, but good interesting.

Is there restrictions to putting coffee beans in your baggage? Is it classed under the heading of food?

25% robusta + 75% arabica. 2 regular coffee scoops in plunger. Add small amount of boiling water, wait 2-3 minutes, swizzle, to produce the crema effect, then add just enough boiling water for one shot. At same time, half cup of milk nearly boiled, 1 min in microwave if you like. Plunge coffee and add to hot milk. Yummmm

I'll have a cup of Kenya blend this morning... Try having a mint before you drink Colombian. Then I think it tastes better. Hmm... my coffee is done brewing.

I have found Tesco own brand ground coffee excellent and cheap! Some of the smarter sounding names are not always the best.

My favorite is Kona. I buy the beans and grind my own and buy it already ground. I love coffee and have tried many different ones but this is my favorite.

I've tried it all, but lately I've been (gasp) drinking nothing but Café Du Monde (coffee with chicory). I don't know what it is about it-- it may not be fancy, but it's darn smooth and good. Café Du Monde is one of the few coffees I like black (but that's because I'm not a big fan of most coffees black).

I am a fan of Columbian beans but everyone tells me that Jamaican Blue Mountain Beans are the best.
