creepy enough it might be possible to say "to stone him is to save him from temptation of sin" therefore if you stone him before he commits a sin, such as laying with a man, then you save his soul and thus honor him. Guh. Creepy! *sighs* I don't suggest it, I'm quite against it but I tried to answer it...

This may seem like a confused and complicated problem, but it really isn't.

What is being misunderstood is the comparison between honoring and condeming. One foundation is to be followed: honor your mother and father. But what happens when, like in the example, one's father is homosexual? Do we continue to obey God and honor the father, or do we obey God and stone the one who commits such abominations before God?

The path of Torah always takes the higher road.

In this case, stone the homosexual.
Why? If one's father no longer honors and obeys God in His commandments, then we are no longer under obligation to honor one's father.

While we are to honor and love each other, our first priority is to God. So when faced with a situatution like this, we are to honor God above our honor to our fathers. And if our fathers sin, then we are to obey God first in how to handle such sinners.

There will come a time when fathers will turn against their sons, and the sons against the fathers. Why? Because the fathers will keep the traditions of the past even when they mean to disobey God, while the sons will find the truth and obey God without question.

Stoning is an ancient way of punishment, not just in the Bible but in many other religions and cultures. Jews no longer stoned people after Jesus saved a prostitute from being stoned, saying "he who is without sin can cast the first stone." All the people dropped their stones and walked away. And then followers of Jesus, Christians, never stoned people. So don't read the Old Testament and think we are still to stone sinners. Only God punishes the disobedient.

Active homosexuals are sinning, God stated so many times throughout that Bible. We are to talk to homosexuals and teach them God's words. One can still be sexually attracted to the same sex but must not engage in sexual relations with them. And we are to love the sinner and hate the sin. We are all sinners and we are to love everyone. By showing your love for your father, talk with him (several times) about the Bible's teachings and pray for his soul.

Thou shall honor thy father and mother. Yes! Even if thy parents are living in sin. Honoring your parents and your elders is not the same as agreeing with their sinful ways nor following in their sinful ways. Many people still love their parent, even though their parent physically, sexually, and/or mentally abused them during their childhood. That's where forgiveness comes in. You don't have to talk to them every day or visit them every day, only love them and pray for them. That's what honor is. Even though they might have abused you, they still brought you into this world-to know and love God.

If your dad is gay then that is a personal choice he has made and if he is willing to live with that choice then you need to respect that. Homosexuality isn't the root of all evil, yet we focus all of our time trying to "save" them from them selves. Why not worry about a more important cause, like abuse and neglect, or homelessness and starvation? There are children in other countries who go to bed hungry and cold every night and all the religious and political leaders want to debate and spend their money on is trying to save a homosexuals soul. If you love your father you will accept him for what he is and if you think praying for him will do anything then go for it, but don't make him feel ostracized for his decision.

Just because one is a sinner does not mean we should judge them or hate them. We should pray for their spiritual upliftment. Thees statements are not absolute in the bible. We give due honor but we do not disrespect. He is your father so that you resplect and the other part you overlook his faults but do not follow in his footsteps in that regard. I hope this helps. go to http://www.essene.org for the lost teachings of Christ what the Catholic church has been hiding from us for ever

Honor your father and do not stone him because he is gay, white, black, stupid, disabled, illiterate, absent, rich, poor, good, bad....if he is good to you and loves you and treats you right, just honor him.

Judge not, that ye be not judged yourself.

Besides, how's a gay guy gonna father a child if he doesn't know where to put it?

These two scriptures you have mangled and put together refer to two very different things.

So I say, shut up and get behind me Satan.
