It's a tough call. I oppose belief in a capital-G God, because there is neither evidence for His/Her existence (pretentious capitalization aside) nor any compelling reason to pretend that He/She exists. When people say that the existence of God is self-evident, or that evidence for God can be seen all around us, I hear that as code for Intelligent Design, which is worrying.
On the other hand, I do believe in metaphor--especially to aid in understanding abstract concepts. So just using the word "God" can be okay. I guess you could call me a Moderate Deist in that sense. "God" is just a pop-cultural word for that which is eternal and transcendent. But it's a very fine line.
I think Chief Seattle was using the word metaphorically when he wrote, "As we are a part of the land, you too are part of the land. This earth is precious to us. It is also precious to you. One thing we know: there is only one God. No man, be he Red Man or White Man, can be apart. We are brothers after all." I can't complain about that.

I know what Deism means and I generally likes its concepts.
while its true that it has not caused much argument its only due to its small size.
Deists have a potential to be quite nasty towards other religious views as seen by this website.
http://www.deism.com/
instead of promoting the values of Deism and what benefits it has. It seems only to attack others and then go on a political and often anti-Semitic diatribe.
if Deism went back to the way the founding fathers of our country wanted it. That is a view of the world that sees the majesty of G-d but respects the rights of others to disagree without insulting them. It has the potential to become the major religion of the United States
until then it will always be on the fringe.

Deists typically reject supernatural events (prophecy, miracles) and divine revelation prominent in organized religion, along with holy books and revealed religions that assert the existence of such things. Instead, deists hold that correct religious beliefs must be founded on human reason and observed features of the natural world, and that these sources reveal the existence of one God or supreme being.
If you were to reject the existence of supernatural then you deny your existence how were you made? and if you believe in evolution then it basically means you have no purpose all you are is an accident! That is not true God loves you he sent his son to die for you- I'm not trying to convert you or anything but give God a chance and read Case for Christ- it is an Atheist Report trying to prove Christianity false, read that and pray to God he is there and the evidence is everywhere! as for the Holy Scriptures there is only one and the Bible is the true- look at all the predictions made years (600+) before they happen, we are lucky if we predict the weather!!!!

"Deism doesn't claim to have all the answers to everything, we just claim to be on the right path to those answers."

I think it's a possibility that God was deistic for a while, allowing evolution and natural selecction to occur, but became involved with the advent of mankind.

I think it's a great way of having faith in Nature's God, and allowing others to walk their own path.
I believe we are all created equally and we all share an equal hand in the human race's destiny.
Peace!

You dont' believe in God if you don't believe in His only Son whom He sent to save us from ourselves.
We had lost our way with the sacrifices and had totally lost the whole meaning of it and this is why a promise of One to come for the salvation of all mankind was made.
You can't just believe what you want and not believe part of it. You know the part where you have to be good and strive to live with love in your heart even for those who persecute you and your beliefs.
But hey maybe Deism is a belief in a different god than the creator of heaven and earth as I really have never heard that term except a couple times, you would think it was more common if it was the truth hmm.

All that I know is that you think there may be a God but the religious books are definitely nonsense. I totally agree.
