Gives him authority - more than aman has.
He said " I say to you..." when he taught - not "thus says the Lord" as the prophets did.
He came as God, taught as God, died in our place as only God could do.

Hmmm - no human would have chosen to die on a cross to take the beating and the put downs that He suffered. No one would be able to not be self centered to some degree in their conduct in all of that.
But hey - if you want to think that Christianity is just another religion - then it doesn't matter.
But if you believe that there is a way to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ then He has to be God because there's only one mediator possible between God and man and that has to be someone who is 100% God and 100% man - it is quite hard to fathom - but so are alot of things like gravity - space - infinity - the fact that atoms do not touch each other - yet we know some form of reality.

Jesus is the part of the Trinity that became human. He did this so we could know God has felt the pain we feel, the joy, doubt, etc too. His other reason for coming was to die for our sins. God required a final sacrifice of a sinless person to make us right with Him again. Jesus willingly died, having no faults or sins. He intervened on our behalf - taking our sins on Himself. He then stands between us and God the Father and pleads on our behalf. When we believe in Jesus and what He did for us, God accepts us as righteous (right with God) and we are saved. Saved = eternally in God's presence in heaven. None of this would have been necessary if Adam hadn't eaten the apple and brought sin into the world. Only Jesus' sacrifice could take the stain of sin from between God and us. His blood wiped the sin away so we could be with God. the Bible clearly says faith is Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus matters very much!

The question whether Jesus is God or not is really matter (and a very important question) for someone who want to seek the "Truth" and for someone who believe that there is God; the true God and not just an "imaginary god".
Muslims, Christians and Jews believe that there is actually God. But they differ in describing the attributes of God. Most Christians believe that Jesus is God but the Muslims and Jews believe that God is only one and that Jesus is only the prophet or messenger of God.

Jesus claimed to be God in word and deed (which was recognized by the Jewish culture of the time, which made the leaders want to stone him for blasphemy). If Jesus is God, then He told the truth and we can trust that he was telling the truth when he said He had the power to forgive sins and when He said He was the ONLY way to the Father.
If Jesus was not God, then either He knew He was lying, and is therefore a liar, or He did not know he was lying, and truly thought He was God, when He wasn't. Either way, if He wasn't God, then we cannot trust anything He said.

Jesus spoke and His Father did, Jesus is the "Word" spoken of in the book of Genesis. The Word was with God and the Word was God.
God is a Trinity, a family of three, they are co dependant like a family is dependant on its members to be a family.
Jesus walked the earth with us, to experience humanity, but he was blessed with the Holy spirit and so He was able to heal the sick, cure the blind. Walk on water, lets see an ordinary man do that, but Jesus said if we believe we can, no one has tried though.

Jesus is the only one who was ever capable of pleasing God the Father throughout his 33 year-long human existence and constant sacrifice for sin, by his fidelity, his humility, and his ability to reject evil along with every type of sin, thereby reconciling God and man.
If Jesus isn't God, that would mean we would be indebted to just another human being for our salvation.
Man's dignity would suffer proportionately.
The fact that God himself came down as a man to save us means that we humans must be pretty special, and very important to God.
If we were saved by just another man, that would be nice, but not nearly the same as being personally saved by the one who created us.
Finally, Jesus as the divine man who took all the evil the world could heap upon him yet rose again from the dead, holds out the promise of our own eventual triumph over death, as well.
And two things God can do that no ordinary human can do is forgive sins, and grant eternal life ... the main objectives of Jesus' entire mission.

God does everything he wants at once. Jesus can only do a few things at a time. God needs no food, Jesus does. These are only a couple examples.

In John 8:44 Jesus said to the religious leaders of his time; "You are from your father he devil.....he is a liar and the father of the lie".
The original lie ws told to Eve by satan some 6,000 years ago when Satan said: "you positively will not die".
Today false religious leaders have misled the majority into thinking the same thing....that they all have an immortal soul. ("you positively will not die"). People are misled into thinking that they are in effect baby Gods....they are going to live forever in their immortal souls in heaven with God. They think quite wrongly that the creator of the universe and Universal Soveriegn needs to DIE for them. They apprently think what is being ransomed is a God's life. They are wrong!
What ignorant nerve! What the almighty God created and purposed was absolutely perfect and he is not obligated in any way to die for mankind or even to Repair all the mess created by Satan the resister and the people who choose to follow him. AND YET...something must be done because when God puposes something to happen IT MUST!
So an arrangement was made right after Adam and Eve sinned...(Gen 3:15)
Adam and Eve were something we do not even understand completely....they were perfect humans and they were supposed to live forever in a physical universe FOREVER. What they lost by choosing poorly was perfect HUMAN life. What needed to be ransomed or bought back is PERFECT HUMAN LIFE. God lovingly made that arrangement.
Jesus Christ is the name of the individual who was transferred by supernatural power to the womb of a virgin to become a perfect HUMAN. He was the very first thing created by the creator. Before becoming human, his very being was exactly the same as his creator?s. His very personality, his goals, his desires, his love, is exactly the same as his father. Everything else created was created by the father but through and with the son. He became God?s spokesman or mouthpiece and that is why he carries the name and title ?Word?. He commands all of the armies of angels. He is the authentic ?seed? who will champion all of the Creator?s purposes and return the universe to the situation originally purposed by Jehovah God the creator, as the King of God?s Kingdom, (A government with a heavenly seat). He is the Messiah, and the Ransomer who redeemed the lives of all humanity by paying the ransom price lost by the original human pair. He gave his perfect human life to pay that price. He did not pay that ransom price with a Creator?s life or a God?s life. His father, (a separate all powerful individual who was still alive) Resurrected him from death, (Hell) to a life once again as a spirit creature like he was before and sat him on a throne at his right hand to wait until his Kingdom rule was to begin. Only those who recognize this position and want this kingdom rule are going to live in the restored earth forever. A few individuals will be resurrected to heaven to rule along with Jesus. That is why the Bible talks about going to heaven for some people.
That is why it is important to understand that Jesus is not God. Do you want to live or not?

Jesus is indeed God! Why are you questioning this fact?
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word(Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God!!

The reason that it make a difference is that we need to have accurate knowledge...John 17:3 says:
"This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ"
Also, the truth is very important:
Jon 4:23 & 24: "Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth
