MMM so with this logic, is living in a city breathing car fumes as you are walking down the street a form of suicide, knowing that it causes such diseases??

Shakes my head in amazement.....

I'm pretty sure that all smokers know it's dumb to smoke. But I don't think they wanna die. Truthfully they probably don't even think about it until it's too late. I think in general the human race is pretty self destructive. Most people have made some bad lifestyle choices, whether it's by eating fatty foods, sleeping around with different partners, drinking too much, driving fast cars, whatever. There are millions of different ways we can do damage ourselves. Nobody is perfect - we all make stupid decisions. :-/

Fortunately or unfortunately... it is considered a "natural death" for the most part... but by definition it is a suicide. Just as smoking around non-smokers who then develop lung cancer and die could be see as homicide.

Interesting, but no. If thats was the case anything we do could be considered suicide, Eating at fast food restaurants, having unprotected sex with someone that has not been tested, drinking too much, speeding, using drugs etc.

I personally don;t see it as suicide, just because you smoke doesnt mean you want to die, people put there lives at risk all the time, some for stupid reasons and others for good. it doesnt mean there all suicides.

People die in car accidents. That doesn't make everyone on the highway suicidal. I think you're stretching it a bit.

No. Suicide is an overt act to end one's own life (and interestingly, the one crime for which someone cannot be prosecuted).

Doing things you know are bad for you is called "pathological behavior".
