it came alive and bit me! No, not really. But- on the label (I didn't notice this at the store) it says "ENHANCED WITH UP TO 11% SOLUTION". What does that mean? Whatever it this "solution" is, that steak didn't taste like real meat should.

The solution is probably vinegar and water, to preserve the flavor and make the meat tender.

Wal Mart is horrendous. They force small suppliers into a contract. They demand capitol improvements (such as 11% solution injectors). When the contract is over, they give the ultimatum of a lower price or end the contract. Small Supplier can't lower the price because they have not finished paying for the capitol improvements. Wal Mart says "We are going with another supplier" and Small Supplier goes bankrupt.

Spend the extra $0.03 (3 cents) and go to a butcher or a good market to get your sirloin.

Please do not buy your steaks from Wall mart. I don't know what the solution was/is but that does not sound appetizing to me. It is probably just color and water and salt and stabilizer. Perhaps stuff to age it so that they can put it on the shelf much earlier and they don't have to naturally age it. Buy it from the butcher, ask them what that is, don't believe everything they tell you, research it for yourself, ask another clerk at Wal-Mart. Go to the market or butcher if not satisfied with their answer.

I do not know what they use, but I will not buy meat at walmart. The meat never tastes like meat. It always has a funky flavor to it and ends up going in the trash or to the dog.

I would say that the solution mentioned would in fact be M.S.G mono-sodium-glutimate [ PRESERVATIVE ] I cannot think what else it would or could be. M.S.G is illegal to use on Meats in Australia and there are heavy penalty's for doing so,I would steer clear of the Supermarket stuff and go to a corner store Butcher Shop and ask if they use M.S.G
