Vitamin C is definitely the way to go. I had a friend who was in a horrific accident and went through the windshied leaving some very nasty raised scars. She asked me for some advice - I am a esthetician in Connecticut.
I recommended OPC Triple Serum which has antioxidants in it as well, and after about a month her scars were barely noticable. You can find it at

Just highlight that entire thing and copy and paste that into your address bar.
It's a little pricey, but worth every penny!
You want to use a Vitamin C that is at least 10 percent and has a liposome delivery system. Liposomes were developed by the pharmaceutical industry to deliver anit-cancer drugs through the skin.

I suggest a vitamin infused product like Mere de la Mer, tough to find, usually on ebay, but worth every cent, its an anti ageing cream so its digs deep and restores your collagen levels and moisturizes and protects at the same time...Great stuff..Worth the money!!!!

Use something containing Allantoin. It stimulates the growth of healthy tissue.
P.S. Allantoin is an extract of an onion, I think.
