im trying to write a one act about christmas, and the conflict that i want to have in the text is that of religion. i would like someone to be something other than christian or catholic. so can someone who is jewish, morman (sp), or anything else kind of help me out by giving me an overview of their beliefs (sp) (wow i fell stupid when it comes to spelling) specifically when it comes to jesus, and him being our savior?
(btw: the comment above about things "other than christian," i know that that is politically incorrect, but most people know what im trying to say... so just... please answer the question, and dont lecture me about how i worded it wrong.
thanks.

Muslims believe that Jesus (called 'Isa in Arabic) was the son of Mary, and was conceived without the intervention of a human father. The Qur'an describes that an angel appeared to Mary, to announce to her the "gift of a holy son" (19:19). She was astonished at the news, and asked: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?" (19:20). When the angel explained to her that she had been chosen for the service of God, and that God had ordained the matter, she devoutly submitted herself to His will.
In the Qur'an and other Islamic sources, there is no mention of Joseph the carpenter, nor any recollection of the inn and manger legend. On the contrary, the Qur'an describes that Mary retreated from her people (outside the city), and gave birth to Jesus underneath a remote date palm tree. The tree miraculously provided nourishment for her during labor and birth. (See Chapter 19 of the Qur'an for the entire story. The chapter has aptly been named "The Chapter of Mary.")

What about writing what Christmas REALLY DOES? It brings people together. It makes people happy. People can reminisce about a variety of things. People share gifts with the ones they love. This, written from an agnostic view.

Add: Christmas also brings families together, even if for only a day. People can also forget about all the bad things going on in the world. All the war, the death, and destruction, and all the bad things in our world that make us lose hope. We are happy and can laugh, even if the laughter is fleeting and if for but a day. Christmas helps us remember that we are loved. By our friends and our family

I think its funny how many people are told that mormons are not christian. The real name of the church is The church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints.
We believe that Christ, during his mortal ministry established a church and that with his death and the death of his apostles, that church organization dissintegrated but now has been restored in these last days in preparation for the second coming of christ.
This is what sets us apart belief wise from other christian churchs.

Wouldn't it be bizarre to write a non-CHRISTian play about CHRISTmas?
Plus, if you do believe in Christ, this would mean a blasphemy. (It would be a blasphemy anyway, but as a non-Christian you wouldn't care.)
