Yes Marco Polo is real.
Marco Polo (1254-1324), is probably the most famous Westerner traveled on the Silk Road. He excelled all the other travelers in his determination, his writing, and his influence. His journey through Asia lasted 24 years. He reached further than any of his predecessors, beyond Mongolia to China. He traveled the whole of China and returned to tell the tale, which became the greatest travelogue.
His travels are written down in "Il Milione" (= The Million, also called the Travels of Marco Polo). The original is now lost and there are several often-conflicting versions of the various translations.
All you had to do was type his name at Google............. Here's a few sites on Marco Polo:

Marco Polo (September 15, 1254 – January 8, 1324) was a Venetian trader and explorer (presumably of noble origins from Sebenico and Curzola in Dalmatia) who, together with his father Niccolò and his uncle Maffeo, was one of the first Westerners to travel the Silk Road to China (which he called Cathay) and visited the Great Khan of the Mongol Empire, Kublai Khan (grandson of Genghis Khan). His travels are written down in Il Milione ("The Million" or The Travels of Marco Polo).

Yes, he was real. The above answers give you a good point to start. His book, The Travels of Marco Polo, was originally published in French. It is fascinating reading, even if we now know that some of his stories are likely embellished, but it is a great account of his life and adventures of discovery. It personally inspired me when I was a kid to become a geographer.

Looks like its all been sorted for you, except the fact that a whole lot of his stories were actually made up by himself, he certainly travelled but if you are really interested in the truth of his tales, check all web sites out and make up your own mind.Still all very interesting true or not!

He was from Venise, in Italy, his dad was a merchant and visited Genghis Khan in China. He then came back and took his son Marco with him to travel back to China to deliver a message to Kubilai (Genghis Khan). Fun story to read.
