I think there is a lot of relevancy to the fact that Christianity is the wolrld's largest religion. I think this is due to Divine Providence. Take into consideration the following:

-- praising God, and enjoying the good will of all the people. And every day the Lord added to their group those who wer being saved. (ACTS 2:47)
Jesus Christ only lived 33 years, never went more than 30 miles from his home, never wrote a book, never was on tv, never made a cd or any multimedia source and YET

-- Jesus Christ has influenced the world more than any person;

-- Jesus Christ's existence separates history (ac or bc);

-- Jesus Christ has more books written about him than any person in history;

-- Jesus Christ is the Ruler of the largest religion in the world;

-- Jesus Christ had 11 apostles and numerous martyrs die excruciating deaths believing in the Messiah, the Son of God;

-- Jesus Christ fulfilled 300+ prophesies

I think that these truths - and they are undisputed HISTORICAL turths - were really exciting to me after i had to make that LEAP of Faith...but they won't INSPIRE a person who choses to remain personally detached and ignorant/ignoring truth

Well, some previous answerers made some points. It's not about the numbers; this "largest world religion" is made from smaller groups, of which some retain from Christianity only the name; of these, many members are only formally Christians, but their life is purely secular. I think there are very few true Christians today, and our Lord will have to be very, very merciful in order to take us in the same place as the Christians from other ages. But there will be Christians until the end of the world, because "the gates of hell shall not prevail against" Lord's Church.

Personally, I think it's dangerous to think of Christianity in this triumphalist way. What if, twenty or fifty years from now, the Antichrist will promote something else, and that will be the dominant religion? Will you follow the supposed "winner"?

And it's also utterly naive to think of Christianity in this way, as some of the skeptical comments have ironically pointed out.

No, would not exchange my view somewhat. His life did no longer separate historic past. maximum pupils have faith he replaced into born in 4-6 BC.... BC wasn't even used until eventually some centuries even with each and every thing of that besides lol The Romans did no longer awaken at some point and suggested "we are commencing over... this is 3 hundred and sixty 5 days a million advert" teach there are greater books written approximately him than every person in historic past. actual, i do no longer think that. i will bypass to the historic past area of the e book shop and spot greater books on Hitler than i will on Jesus interior the religious area. Jesus Christ would not "Rule" Christianity - this is stupid - he replaced right into a Jew Dionysus had 12 Apostles (Jesus additionally had 12) - different Religions have had martyrs to boot - those issues at the instant are not unique to Christianity in any respect. teach he fulfilled them... digital mail me the record of all 3 hundred prophecies and teach me the place he fulfilled all and sundry. i've got achieved a learn in this with various persons and what we got here upon replaced into that he did no longer - He did no longer set up Israel as a rustic while he replaced into alive - that prophecy on my own makes something give way as there's no longer something interior the prophecies interior the previous attempt that state the Messiah will die and are available back back and then fulfill prophecies.... it says in the time of his lifetime he will do those issues. *what's commonplace isn't good and what's sturdy isn't commonplace* Claims via adherents do no longer make it certainty.

Torah states:
You shall not follow the masses in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after a multitude in order to pervert justice (Ex 23:2)

Just because one third of the world's population is Christian, doesn't mean it's right to follow.

An argument for faith in a religion should never be based on the amount of people in that religion. Or for these reasons you give. A person's choice of faith whold be from what is taught, what can be learned, and how one will live according to the precedents of that religion.

Such a weighted question. I'm sure this fact does influence a lot of people to explore other relgions. But it doesn't affect the way I view Jesus. He was a great man, and I admire the man and what he stood for, but I simply cannot follow a religion because everyone else does. Besides I would rather listen to Jesus' ideas, than the beliefs structure built AROUND him later on.

Unwrap the box and ye shall find the real treasure. Ponder that carefully.

Romans 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut [it] short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

First, I don't know it's the LARGEST religion, it's certainly one of the biggest, however if you take people at their religious best, it's a minority. Look at all those fornicating before marraige, getting no fault divorce, lying, cheating, stealing.

To be a true Christian you have to be a virgin on your wedding day and not divorce or set aside your partner for any reason except Adultery, according to Jesus.

How many Christians meet that test!

How many don't commit Adultery. Look at Haggard, married with children and doing all sorts of things. Jim Bakker, married and doing all sorts of things, now divorced.

About 15% of the Catholic Priests have charges against them for pedophile abuse.

Cut all those people out of your statistics, for they are NOT good Christians!

Knowing that more than half the people in our country are overweight does not make me want to become that.

Well, you make a point but there is a flaw in your statements. I would not consider Christianity as a religion per se because there are many forms. To my knowledge, the largest religion is Roman Catholicism (unless it is some sect of Islam), and their leader is not Jesus but the Pope.

>>"-- Jesus Christ had 11 apostles and numerous martyrs die excruciating deaths believing in the Messiah, the Son of God;"<<

so whoever gets the high score of the most people dying beliving in their truth wins?

I guess the millions of jews killed for being jewish don't count, huh?

>>"-- Jesus Christ fulfilled 300+ prophesies "<<
yet, missing a single one proves he wasn't it. and he failed more than that.

by the way, whats the number reduced to if you only count the people who are *ACTUALLY* observant and not 100% sunday-morning-observant?

If you ask me, it doesn't make the least difference.

I would still revere and adore Jesus Christ for what He was and what He taught and what He stood for ... even if it was the least and smallest religion in the World.

But that's because I'm like that.

And, incidentally, it's AD, not AC.

Have a nice day or whatever.

True that Jesus Christ was not on any TV or anything but having thousands of blood thirsty crusaders and inquistors are a bit of a hard sell. Heck, if I have those kind of resources, my own religion would be the largest world religion. Sheesh
