well there is something to be said for those movers that used to help, but you could also have on of your friends give you a countdown of the days left. at least i found that helpful. if it was all wicker you could just burn it and get new.

It depends how much stuff you have. But it should be no less than 3 days.
When I was coming back to Brazil I packed my things only 2 days before my move, and it was very very hard...I've forgot, for example, to withdraw my money from my account...
I think the best thing to do is planining...start right now planing everything you'll need for your moving, how many boxes, are they gonna be provided from the moving company? Are u going to rent a truck?
If it's a big house don't mix all boxes together...start from one room and just finishes when everything from that room is packed...remember to pack fragile things first and label all boxes...
Label all boxes with the according room, that will make your moving easier...
I shared one room with my friend so 2 days had to be enough If I had planned my moving...

PACK NOW!!!
You should pack as much as you can in advance - basically everything you aren't likely to need in the next 5 days should be in a box!!
Don't wait to the last minute - it STINKS - Yes, this is the voice of experience - YOU DON'T WANT TO WAIT.
Everything you won't NEED for the next 5 days - get it boxed!!!
Be sure not to make the boxes too heavy. The extra time is what you need so you can pack smart - so unpacking won't be such a mess. Pack things that are related in the same box - but don't delay!
Best of luck

I start packing what I can do without about a month in advance and gradually narrow that list down to only the bare essentials. Within two days of moving, everything is packed. I plan to move in March or April. I'm already gleaning what I don't want to take with me, donating clothes and furniture that I don't want to move.

Things are still packed up lol!
I do it as soon as I no I have to move, hence not moving! Hate moving!
Do you notice when friends need to move you always hear from them, but when you have to move no one is home, or they are busy that day, week or month?

Whoa! In my experience, 5 days isn't enough and you'd just kill yourself. But since that's all you have, get a move on.
