I just got baptized yesterday and decided to fast for three days, I figure if Jesus can do 40 days I can do three. I have EXTREMELY low body fat and was wondering if my muscles will atrophy after three days. I normally eat much more than the average person, but never gain weight. Its been one day and I'm STARVING, I'm going to be deciplined and go the whole 3 days, but was wondering what to expect. I'm already starting to feel slightly euphoric, anyone have experience fasting.

Fasting?
In my experience and observation fasting nowadays is for most of us not like fasting was 50 years ago!

We do no longer live in a natural world, and our body is filled with preservatives and toxins, now also shaff from air, food and water. Medicine even found that bodies keep longer fresh after death than about 50 years ago. Why would this be so?

All the preservatives people have eaten during their life preserved their body, of course not at death, but they were preserved alive! That's why many do not feel when they fall ill until it is severe.

When we fast, the body is not burdoned to take care of more food, more toxins and preservatives, transfats etc., but starts to clean out. This cleansing may be so powerful that the toxins, thrown out of our tissues and bones, may make us sick. That's why fasting for days is not good for everyone. Beans are great to help control a too speedy cleanse.

When cleansing too fast, we may have a strong acid reaction and even die from it. Indeed, a man died when fasting on juices for about 2 weeks! He cleansed too fast for the pollution he carried!

The sun is also cleansing, and I am convinced that not the sun causes skin cancer, but the toxins it draws to the surface of the skin! A clean body does not get skin cancer from the sun in my estimation! The sun allows the body to make vitamin D, necessary for strong bones and teeth! Many children today avoid the sun for fear of skin cancer, but are fed food full of preservatives and toxins! What a paradox world!

How can we wisely cleanse?

Best is to prepare for a fast by eating vegetables for some days, non starchy and easy to digest food. The empty starches (white sugar, white flour and all containing them) imbalances our blood sugar. At first it goes high up after eating these empty starches, then it falls way down, which gives us hunger pangs. Animal products are mainly highly acid-forming, which the body tries to eliminate when cleansing. This may even cause a stench! Great, it is coming out!

When we stop eating empty starches, we will not feel so hungry any longer. Brown sugar is better, whole grain flour is better. Flour from sprouted grains is best.

After being prepared, with blood sugar balanced, it may help to fast on vegetable juices, may be carrot juice with a slice of beet in it. Teas, like green tea or herbal tea are good to use. Or purified water, yet I feel some nourishment is necessary for most (vegatable juices).

When one gets too weak or spacy, one should break off the fast with some light food (vegetables, oatmeal with cinnamon and brown sugar etc.), I feel. One can repeat a day of fasting the next week or once a month.

A good and alkaline-forming diet (mainly vegetables and some fruit, fruit may cleanse too fast) is also cleansing, but in a gentle way. Some raw organic, sunripened food inbetween will help to cleanse and build the body.

Furthermore, Color*MedicineTM can be applied, it is like food, for the body can easily absorb the rays and build tissues, muscles and bones (www.colormedicine.com).

You may want to check your pH (urine and saliva) several times a day (and even make a list), and see if you are too acid, which would run down your body. A pH of 7.5 of urine and saliva is best in my experience. 7 is neutral and not good for the body; under 7 is acidic and may cause all kinds of problems. You can buy pH paper in your health food store or on the Internet.

Happy cleansing, the wise way.

Fasting is not for everyone and there are many different types of fasting. Because people must work, play, take care of their family, etc, we are not all able to do a full fast (no eating/water only) and be capable to take care of our family, work, and self.

In church, most churces accept the one meal fast where you still eat but minus one meal each day. This time is set aside for prayer and meditation. Don't be hurt if you fail because God sees your effort more than you completing the task.

You will not starve. You will not instantly become thin. Fasting is consuming only liquids. When the body does not have to deal with digesting solid food and getting rid of the waste that solid food creates, it can concentrate on getting rid of toxins. The most common reason to fast is to eliminate disease or from the body.

How much weight will I lose?

The main benefit offered by a fast, to those who wish to lose weight, is the speed of the weight loss. To see a person drop 30-to-40 pounds in a 30-day juice fast is to see a person totally transform his life. Self-esteem is given a boost and for the first time in their life, discipline becomes a lifestyle. The fast becomes a catalyst for a total life overhaul. People start dressing better, showing more confidence, becoming more organized, more dedicated in relationships and more at peace.

Initially, weight loss can be as high as three-to-four pounds per day, but as the fast continues, the average loss will be one pound-per-day. If you are juice fasting and not losing weight, the juice is supplying all the calories you need. You may have to cut down on the juices or alternate between water fasting and juice fasting if losing weight is part of your goal. The slower your metabolism is the slower the weight loss.

Try to stay focused on the healthy things you are doing to improve your life rather than being consumed with the number of pounds lost each day. Water retention can vary your weight five pounds so watching the scale can be frustrating. The best motivation to fast is for physical and spiritual health. Be patient; the fasting process is slow. Be thankful the toxins are leaving your body. Do not have unrealistic expectations. Give your body the time it needs to do the work of cleansing.

Fasting And Metabolism

The fear is that while fasting, the metabolism will slow down and afterward there will be more weight gained than before the fast. Initially, any calorie reduction will cause a lowering in the BMR or base metabolic rate. Cleansing will bring health that will increase metabolic performance and energy output. In other words, you will eat less and feel more energetic.

After fasting, the body is more efficient. Digestion is better due to a cleaner colon. The colon walls have been cleansed of impacted feces, allowing improved absorption of nutrients. The good news is that greater efficiency equals enhanced energy. Healthy people burn more calories. They also eat less because they are more active and feel better about themselves. They don't need food as a security blanket.

The greatest impact you can have on increasing your resting metabolism is exercise. After a workout, you can be sitting on the couch reading while burning calories, as the muscles are grabbing glucose from the blood to replace glycogen supplies. The key to weight loss is fewer calories and more exercise. A diet high in raw food provides fewer, low-density calories, and higher-fiber, more-filling foods.

Oh, by the way, a slower metabolism diminishes aging. A tortoise can live to 400 hundred years of age.

Three days probably won't harm you, so long as you drink a lot of water and are otherwise healthy.

You'll need to be careful what you eat when you break your fast, as your insides will have mostly shut down, and they may not be ready to immediately start right up again.

Some people take once daily non-caloric bulk fiber supplements like Metamucil, to keep something moving through "the pipeline".

You must drink water when fasting. Also, fasting should be a personal matter. It shouldn't be told to everyone.
