do no longer difficulty approximately it, because of the fact it relatively is not like all of us is going to be conserving up your invitation on your gown to make certain in the event that they experience...it relatively is something basically you and probably a marriage planner might observe. If it bothers you, right here's a wild thought - change out the tablecloths to ivory and shop all the different stuff white. you would be stunned what a outstanding assessment it relatively is, extraordinarily if this is a rich ivory. you may attempt out the thought at your community celebration shop...or possibly a print shop that has lots of paper shares to make certain while you're mushy with that. i might propose ivory shirts for the adult men because of the fact they are going to be up on the fringe of you.

A non-destructive check is to examine it for grain. Ivory is a bit like a tree in that it has concentric growth rings and a bit like a tooth and may show traces of the nerve. Also consider the possibility that it may be hippo or walrus ivory as opposed to elephant ivory.

If you like it, enjoy it ivory or not and don't let your mother-in-law diminish your pleasure in it.

Well that is a true test, real ivory will not melt as it is bone, or tooth material. Since the ivory ban, I really, really, really doubt that you have a real ivory piece. They get rarer and rarer each year. All pre-ivory ban pieces must have a certificate showing they were produced before the world wide ivory ban, in order to be bought, sold, or owned. I hate to rain in on your parade, but I have to side with the pessimists on this one. Good luck either way.

Take it to an antique dealer and ask them to appraise it to verify if it is real or not.
