Ha! I used to have that problem and you know what I did about it? I embraced it!
So what if you need a break every half an hour - take it. Take 5-10 minutes to get a drink, check your email, go to the toilet, walk the dog, answer some yahoo questions - whatever. Then back to study.
Look at it this way. If you study for your half an hour and then need a break it means that from that time on your brain is not paying full attention. So walk away. When you come back you have had a short break, so you are feeling a little more refreshed. This makes you concentrate better for half an hour at least, and then go on another break.
Ask yourself this. What is better? paying attention for 10 * 30 (5hrs) minute blocks with many breaks in between (total time=8hrs) or studying for 4 hours (paying FULL attention for 30-45 minutes, flipping the rest) , have a 15 minute break and then another 3.75 hours (total eight)
You need the breaks, and you will benefit from it. It will also help if you set deadlines like "I need to finish this paragraph in the next 10 minutes." Not only will this keep you on track, but come exam time, you will find that you will set a goal like "i need to get to question 10 before i rest" then be able to take a 5 minute breather not touching your pen and go back to it. Because you set a goal and a time limit, you will write faster to achieve this break time and so will be ahead of the game.
It worked for me, and many others i know - it was encouraged by my school even. Try it for a week - what have you really got to loose???

Well, it's normal to need to take a break from working after a little while. If you take five minute breaks every half hour that isn't bad at all (it probably keeps you sane :) !) But if you take like hour breaks between studying try to find a new way of studying that isn't as boring as what you are doing now (which I'm probably guessing is reading a stupid textbook) Go to a free download center and get a computer notecard maker (mine is called CueCard, I like it a lot) and try that. Heres a free download site address for CueCard:http: //www.download.com/3000-2051-10075304.html
I hope this helps!

Studies have shown that if you study for more than thirty minutes, you don't retain as much. So studying in small chunks and taking breaks is good for you.
One thing you can do to help you is to change things up. Instead of reading and re reading a section, after you read, write a few lines about what you read - in your own words.
Or call a study buddy and discuss the section with them, explain what the section was about.
Or find your mom and teach her about what you just read.
The best way to learn something - teach it to someone else.

You should be taking a break about every half hour (or hour). If you study a little every day, you won't have to cram or spend long periods of time studying prior to a test.
Here's what helped me. Every day after class, I rewrote my notes to make them more legible. I read my notes every day. As my notes got longer and longer, I still continued to read them from beginning to end. After awhile, the material, especially the earlier notes, becomes so familiar that you will be ready for the test when it comes without cramming the night before.

i will suggest you plan your study schedule.
break is not a FAULT! The science has proved that a break is helpful to improve your studies, so if u want to study for a long time, u should break it down with some short breaks and then go back to study.
the most important is CONCENTRATIONS, as long as you can do it.
don't run away when u take break~!!

the more you like what you study the longer you will stay at it.
If you don,t care for the subject. you may as well pass on it.
