Awhile back I read an article by Reg Gutteridge; he writes about Mike Tyson taking an educational assessment examination for a week when he first went to prison, and the "embarrassing results showed that he (Tyson) had the reading level of an 11-year-old".
Tyson's emotional state is so unpredictable that it leads to public outbursts one minute and an image of a guy who is peaceful the next. Its this skewed state that directly affects his intelligence as it is perceived by the masses. I've seen interviews where Mike quotes Ernest Hemingway, then change the channel and Mike is threatening to "eat someones kids".
So, like the majority of answers in YA the end result is based on opinion.
