I need to have an English letter translated to Japanese so I can send it to my mom.

Are there any companies or anyone that can do that for me for whatever it usually costs?

Online translation is NOT good. I tried many online translations but none of them is perfect. I used online translation when I couldn't type Japanese in my computer and it made all my friends cry(I mean they were laughing so hard) because it translates it so differently and it uses the words that we normally don't use when we talk or the words are so old fashion way. Make sure you find someone (a person) translate it for you. I don't know about any company but I'm sure they do have it. I used to write letters to friends overseas (I had some pen pals) and the company that provided the service (such as finding pen pals in countries that I was interested in, organize group activities with people from different countries etc.) they had translation service to communicate with my pen pals.
Some people might even do it for some allowance. If you have friends who's in the military, ask to see if they know anyone who's married to a Japanese. Military people have spouses from all over the world.

On Google there is a service called Google Fish I believe, you can type in english, and it will translate it to almost any language, and it's free.

"trans fat is good" means Babelfish I think. It can be found at http://world.altavista.com . However, don't use it!! It will totally mangle your translation as to be totally nonunderstandable!
I'll ask my husband if he'll translate it for you... His japanese is very good.
What kind of cost are you thinking?
