I know how you feel. My father has had over 400 malignant growths removed. ( most of these are the result of medication to lower his immune system after a heart transplant). He also hates sunscreen and plays golf all day everyday.. the solution.. A shirt called a mook which protects him from the uv rays and keeps him cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It is expensive but it works great. Also a hat. Good Luck!!!

Sunburns are dangerous, but daily exposure to the sun (with the normal adaptive response of 'tanning') is not nearly as dangerous. More importantly, the high dose of Vitamin D your father is getting may dramatically reduce his risk for far more dangerous cancers (such as colon cancer) and other conditions (such as multiple sclerosis) than skin cancer. Just be sure your dad is eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables so that his body has the needed antioxidants to minimize any damage to his skin from the sun.
An annual 'check-up' with a dermatologist should catch any skin cancer before it becomes dangerous.
Best wishes.

Can he wear a hat, or something to protect him?
If I were you I'd do a lot of research on this subject and show him facts, print a bunch of pages related to skin conditions and diseases, such as skin cancer, this is a delicate issue, and post them everywhere, like fridge, bathroom and doors, mirrors, etc. show him pictures, if you have to be graphic, so be it and in the mean time do some research too on products and if he has a Dr., talk to his Dr., about it, tell him how long he's been like this. I wish you the best.

Check into Avon's Skin So Soft products. They have a sun screen / insect repellent that goes on easily.
Also take note, if your father has dark skin from being out in the sun all day long, he has some protection already from the sun. Its us fair skinned people that burn easily and continue to burn all summer long that are at the most risk.

Goodness I am so sorry to hear this. My father died of skin cancer and if I could have done something I would have. Remember one rule about life and that is that action speak louder then words. See if you can make some kind of a scene. I'm sure you will think of something creative. Save your dad from a horrible death.

Maybe to show him how concerned you are, you should show him information and statistics about skin cancer. You could also ask him to go to a doctors appointment with you and have your doctor educate him about skin cancer and risks. Just inform your doctor that you wish to inform him of the risks of skin cancer.

Well, if he can't wear sunscreen he needs to make sure to cover up then.......light clothing too if it's too hot.......wear a hat at all times...something with a visor like a baseball cap.
Some skin lotions contain UV protection....maybe he can wear a lotion and apply it after he bathes.......maybe your mom can put it on him.
