anyone know where I could learn irish gaelic online for free

I'm a native Irish speaker and I must say I agree. Irish is a difficult language as it is pronounced completely different to what it is written. I don't know myself but anyone I know who dosn't speak it thinks its a weird language with confusing grammar andabstract pronunciation. I love it though.

Yes, there are several websites that offer translations. As for learning the language online I would think it would be difficult. I have looked into it, and would say the hardest part would be the pronunciation of the language. All you need to do is go to yahoo search and it will find you a couple sites. I wish you luck learning a new language.
