They probably won't let you enlist, but there are many ways of serving your country that do not involve enlisting. For example, go to a Veteran's Hospital and see if they need volunteers, or a Veteran's nursing home. By helping the people that served your country, you are serving it.

It is unlikely that you would be accepted to active military, which is what mechanics would be. You see, the military may have to pay all your medical bills for the rest of your life, if you either get wounded, or stay in long enough, or can convince the doctors that your work in the military caused the disease to be accelerated in it's development.
I appreciate your sentiments, though. Have you tried Halliburton or Brown and Root, they have less obligation to attend to your health during employment or afterward.

I think that's great. I am in the Army, an army helicopter pilot, i fly the AH-6J ''little bird'' attack helicopter....and i love serving my country...contact your local recruiter...maintenance would be great if you are good with mechanics...aircraft maintenance is really fun...theres weapons maintenance, vehicle maintenance, and lots of other kinds...theres lots of jobs behind the front lines that are great, and without these people, the people on the front lines couldnt do what they do....good luck, have fun...

Yes there are many, volunteer at a Veterans hospital, join the VFW auxilliary, write letters to sevicemen, call the Vetererans Administration or log onto their website they have volunteer programs. Many, many more possibilities.

It would be hard for you to get into the military. A good way to help the military though is as a Department of Defense contractor, plus we get paid a whole lot too. www.kbrjobs.com

Your best bet is to go to a military recruiter and talk with them about it. I don't think you can join with limited capabilities.
Good luck. Pops
