Wouldn't we all be inbred? This is definitly so, therefore, undesirable characteristics would show through more frequently in the human phenotype. What is the Christian explanation of why this has not occured?

Even the story of Noahs Arc with all the different races would cause inbreeding!!!

I do not necessarily believe that there was just Adam and Eve, but if God created one man and one woman then he created them with pure genes, so their off spring would not be corrupted.

I am not religious, and I am not an atheist. I don't believe in believing either way without proof. (That sentence physically hurt to write, but I couldn't resist.)
I think the universe is so elegant that it should just be admired for what it is, instead of coming up with some fairy tale to explain it.

About the last four replies:

"Adam and Eve were created perfect."

Define perfect. Shouldn't perfect vision be the ability to see infinitely far? There's no such thing as perfect, or if there is, our species can't get there.

"Close relatives have more problems with birth defects because of damages to the
genetic structure over the generations caused by disease, radiation, drugs,
pollution, etc."

"4. a children (the Bible says there were many) did inbreed

5. As a result of this inbreeding we have seen undesirable

characteristics develop over time; cancer, sickle cell anemia, ms, to name just a
few"

First of all, inbreeding does not cause undesirable traits to appear in the first place. It just concentrates them and makes them more visible in the phenotype. Second of all, the appearance of these recessive genes would be mutations, and according to Intelligent Design, mutations incapable of creating new information, right?

mu·ta·tion (myū-tā'shən)

n.

Genetics.

A change of the DNA sequence within a gene or chromosome of an organism resulting in the creation of a new character or trait not found in the parental type.

Mutations do create new information. It's the definition.

"If we ALL came from an Amobea, then there was a lot of clones and cell division
without different "mates" to make everything!"

We didn't all come from AN anything. Evolution happens in groups of thousands of organisms, if not whole species.

This is just what I have read about these subjects. If anyone has differing opinions, I'd love to hear them.

Just a little bit more from my inner Grammar Nazi. I realize that people are not perfect. I realize that people do make mistakes, but once you put something on the internet, it's there forever. Do yourself a favor and spellcheck or at least read through your post. This is not a live chat, it's a forum where you have as long as you need to compose a reply.

The answer that I can give you is simply my opinion. I am a Christian and have wondered about this very subject. The answers that I have come up with are as follows:
1. Gods original creation was perfect
2. Adam and Eve were vastly different than a modern human
3. When they were cast out of Eden and began to reproduce
they had children that were of a more physically perfect type
4. Thier children (the Bible says there were many) did inbreed
5. As a result of this inbreeding we have seen undesirable
characteristics develop over time; cancer, sickle cell anemia, ms, to name just
a few
6. The reason that we see such dramatic malformations in
modern instances of inbreeding is because we are so far
removed from the original "perfect" creation that when we
choose to inbreed we are working with a more physically corrupted
form of humanity. (due to the original inbreeding)

This is simply my opinion. If you do not agree that is your opinion. So to answer your question we have seen the undesirable characteristics and according to this Christian it has occured. I hope this helps.

Hey, you asked : )

But they do. We have Downs, Tysacks, Cycle Cell, Blindness, Deafness, Acne, etc.

And if we came from an evoloved species of mamals how many "evolved" at once or did we inbreed there too!

If we ALL came from an Amobea, then there was a lot of clones and cell division without different "mates" to make everything!

That's a lot of inbreeding!

You can't avoid it no matter what direction you take.

However in the Bible it also says that "the Sons of God" saw that the daughters of Adam and Eve were fair and took them as wives, so we have a larger gene pool with the "sons of God."!

Adam and Eve were created perfect. There were no recessive gene that would have cause defects to early human beings. After several generations, traits coming from recessive genes did show up, such as different races. The different races aren't a form of evolution, where one races evolves beyond another. We all come from Adam and Eve, and the different races occur from a loss of genes. That's what happened with in-breeding.

Close relatives have more problems with birth defects because of damages to the genetic structure over the generations caused by disease, radiation, drugs, pollution, etc. When two close relatives have children, such defects are magnified because of the chance the child would get the defective gene from both parents.

When Adam and Eve were created though, they were genetically pure. There were no damaged genes passed down from past generations of disease, radiation, pollution, etc. This being the case, there was little chance of genetic flaws being passed to children.

I understand that you don't believe and you are really not asking to understand.Things were so much different back then and if you don't believe, then you could not possibly understand.GOD can do so many things and He is above our thought process.I now for someone who does not believe this all may sound a bit make believe but this is a serious belief for us.
I wish you peace

Yes. Everyone was obliterated by the flood and we started over with Noah's bunch. This explains the rampant stupidity of modern man. Thank you so much.

People were closer to perfection at that time making it possible, as time and generations went on God gave the Israelites laws against it and brought it to an end, it was neccessary at first to populate the earth.
