i am no expert but I would guess that stress and illness are not only cousins but kissin' cousins at that. When a person is ill, they get stressed out because of being sick and missing work etc...
when a person is stressed out because of workload, children, war, elections, the state of the world,etc... it can and usually does make them physically ill to some degree. I think it would be quite difficult to find one without the other lurking closely by.

It's pretty much a myth. In cases of extreme anguish, the body may be more at risk for illness, but it is not common.

Stress is not as bad as everyone thinks it is. In fact, a certain amount of stress is GOOD. It keeps us motivated and going. If someone had NO stress, they would be more likely to get ill than someone with a normal or even heightened amount of stress in their life.

If you don't do anything about the stress in your life, it will cause illness. Find out what's causing the stress, and take the appropiate action to reduce it or even eliminate it, before it builds up in your system and causes an illness.

Stress lowers the body's immunity and ability to fight disease. With stress-induced immodeficiency, you are more suseptible to everything from the common cold and ulcers (which are caused by a bacteria) to heart disease and strokes. It's best to find some way healthy to cope with your stress like running or working-out. Good luck!
