Blah! Satanism is the only religion I don't like. Only because there is absolutely NO reason why ANYONE should worship evil! As for your question, It is just a bunch of bologna, don't worry about it.

As a Christian that's been into heavy metal since a young age, I can tell you there's no truth to those statements. Even the for-fathers of Heavy Metal: Black Sabbath had songs that encouraged religious beliefs. When songs mention evil, it's usually in a negative sense.
A ton of metal lyrics support the same values that major religions do, they just don't realize it. Out of touch Christians get it in their heads that it helps people to protest and it causes rifts between people that would otherwise see eye-to-eye. If they took the time to just read the lyrics they'd be surprised.
Tool's new album shows a ton of spiritual growth from Maynard. He once released a anit-Christian song called Judith with A Perfect Circle. Come to find out it was about his mom. 10,000 Days is in the total opposite direction. Half the album is about God and wrestling with salvation.
Satanism is real, but it has little if anything to do with heavy metal. I don't think rap causes cultural problems, but it does promote a lifestyle that is the exact opposite to most religious aspirations.
Good luck with the band. If you ever want to learn about a rebel that changed human history (and saved a ton of souls), read about Jesus. The dude stood up to the society of his time and turned it on its head. He didn't even let death scare him away.

Are people still worried about Satanists and heavy metal? Really? That's so 80's.
Everyone who is a parent now was a teenager in the 80's and listened to Ozzy and Judas Priest right? So aren't we over all this stuff?

Just more tactics. It's really pathetic to watch people put something like this down without even knowing the songs or the bands they are putting down. I had one preacher tell me that Alice Cooper was a son of Satan. We actually argued after I told him that when Alice Cooper was young, before he went into music, that he was to be an ordained preacher and IS a Christian. (As far as I know, he still is) They don't like the music, it's loud, it's rough, so obviously it's evil.
But then, they said this of Elvis when he first started too. Same with the Beatles, especially John Lennon.
It makes no sense to condemn something you have no knowledge of, but, damn, they are good at it, huh? *wink*

Some do. Remember the devil is very very crafty. If it is not for God you better look at it hard, it may be against him. There are a lot of heavy metal Christian bands you should check out. POD is awesome, 12 Stones is great, Red is a new band that is on the move. Later, Mike

Well, I was a singer in the 80s and stayed pretty heavily in the club scene through the mid 90s. Guys used it as a means to rebel and go after the religious, but I never met anyone that I really thought believed it.
The simple fact was it was fun to use it to poke fun at the guys who were out there saying you were going to hell. It was the ultimate way to say we don't care. Guys like Marilyn Manson made a whole career out of it.

If you don't believe in Satanism, get out of heavy metal man. You don't have the inspiration required.

you think of steel is ineffective because of the fact some previous bands replaced their variety? this is stupid, steel is fairly alive and thrashing, yet you at the instant are not listening. those are my popular steel albums of 2008 (2008 replaced right into a totally huge twelve months for steel, and those are only the albums i've got listened to, i've got have been given extra albums from 2008 that i've got no longer heard yet that are probable only as stable Watershed via Opeth ObZen via Meshuggah Equilibrio via Xystus while Time Fades via Suspyre RAJA via STAM1NA Fallen Sanctuary via Serenity Mercy Falls via seventh ask your self Ob(Servant) via Psycroptic Shrouded Divine via In Mourning the way of all Flesh via Gojira Planetary Duality via The Faceless Be long handed via Pharaoh Sagas via Equilibrium Traced in Air via Cynic business enterprise via Cronian value of existence via Communic 01011001 via Ayreon Twilight of the Thundergod via Amon Amarth Uroboros via Dir En gray Shogun via Trivium

I know lots of metal heads and none of them are Satanists or Luciferians (two very different things).
The only Satanist I know prefers jazz...
