Infantry Training is OSUT (One Station Unit Training) and is done a Ft. Benning Georgia. Military training is broken down into two sections. Basic Training and AIT or Advanced Individual Training, which is where you get trained according to your MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) in your case 11B or Infantry.

When you finish Basic Training at Ft. Benning you will get a Family Weekend and then report back to the same location you took your Basic Training for your AIT. AIT for the Infantry is rather short so they do not give you a lot of time (Like I said only a weekend) between Basic and AIT.

When I went through in 1992, Basic was 8 weeks and AIT was 5 weeks for a total of 13. There was also a week prior to Basic for in-processing into the Military where you get issued your uniforms, shots get updated, paperwork is filled out etc...... making the total time in training about 14 weeks long.

Usually infantry combat training is part of boot camp and leave comes after. Best of luck in the Army.

1. The Army calls it BCT (Basic Combat Training, 12 weeks, plus 1 week for reception).
2. OSUT (One-station United Training) applies to infantrymen. The infantry has their BCT and AIT (Advanced Individual Training) combined into a 14 week long training session (plus 1week for reception).
3. Whether you go home after training depends. If you're active duty, you probably won't get to go home. During training, you will get your orders and the unit you will report to. After training, you will be shipped to that unit for training and then probably deployment to Iraq (if you're joining the Army soon). If you join the National Guard or the Reserves, you might get to stay home if you're unit does not get mobilized.
4. Since infantry training is 14 weeks combined there is no break.
5. As far as I know, only the National Guard and the reserves has "split-op" in which they can split BCT and AIT under certain circumstances, but I doubt infantry can do it.

You take your basic, which is part of infantry, then go to advanced infantry training, then specialized training, then home on leave. Unless they want to train you more in something else. Good luck.

They forgot--exodus---!!!!

If you're in training during the Christmas-New Years' period, you all go on leave in the middle of training. An with that leave, you might not have enough to go anywhere after training is over.

But why would a man like you want to go to Army Infantry training?

Try Marine Infantry Training. I didn't think I was good enough and have regretted it ever since that I didn't try.
