Hi -
If everything is legal and there are no worries in that department, then ask a few questions:
1. Is he married ?
2. What is the attraction between the two of you (sex,
intellect, hobbies etc..) ? Be honest about this
3. Does he have kids and how will you feel about that?
4. How far do you really want to go in this relationship?
5. Can you see yourself with this person in the years to
come?
I am not trying to deter you from anything but I can tell you from experience that as time goes on aging can have an effect on things which at one time you may have mutually enjoyed. For example: you may have an enormous sexual appetite at some point in your lives and his may diminish or vice versa. This is one example.
My best suggestion is for you to learn everything about this person that you can even if you have to play detective. Also remember that your taste in people will chage with time.

Yes, a 42-year-old man would consider dating a 25-year-old woman. If it were me, though, the turn-on wouldn't really have much to do with the age (yeah, it would be flattering). I have always appreciated being attractive to women--no matter what their ages. Not all older men are after sex--take me for instance. I am interested in finding true love. If that happens to be with someone younger...then so be it. I don't think a number should get in the way of two people who have chemistry emotionally, physically, and mentally. Give your 42-year-old guy friend a chance. If you have that chemistry, then go for it. Otherwise, you will wonder for a long time if it might have been the real deal. Experience is the best teacher!

He might be afraid that people will think that he's kissing his daughter. That is a common mis-conception with a couple with that much of an age difference. I was in a marriage with a man that was 13 years older, but he didnt look it (thank god!)- so, relax a bit, maybe he just needs to get used to it, or maybe he really isn't THAT into it for it to be a public affair.

I'm not a guy but I don't see a reason that its anyone's business how old someone is so I think If I was the guy I wouldn't tell anyone your age as some people won't understand and are very judgemental at first glance (or so I've been told).

ive never dated a guy that much older than me but my aunt it common law married to a guy over 30 yrs older than her and they are happy, the way you tell this story almost seems like he is giving you a kissing allowance, and that is a very fatherly thing to do, you may want to take a step back and evaluate the relationship for what it really is
good luck, and smile big

I thinks it's fine for two people who have an age gap to go out and be a couple and such just as long as they're both legal.

I'd watch out .....are you sure he is available or are you just his toy!!! No PDA for a quick kiss in public seems a bit fishy to me....check him out a bit more closely

It depends on the guys comfort level. My boyfriend is 9 years older than me and he has no problem introducing me to his friends/family. I do feel a little silly when he's with me and my friends, I feel to immature when we're all together. Personal preference.
