I have a 03 Exedition that starts fine when tempature is above 50 degrees but when its cold it will take several cranks to start the engine. Truck has 42000 miles on it.

Next time it is cold, try starting the vehicle with your foot on the gas pedal pushing it down about an inch or so. If this allows the vehicle to start normally, you need to have the Idle Air Control valve replaced. If this does not help in the starting concern, have the fuel pressure checked first.

IAC valve may be sticking, this happens all the time, also be sure the air filter is good, replace it every 15,000 miles as well as the fuel filter

i'd check the oil. you might need 5w30 for the winter, if it has too heavy or too thick of an oil in it it might be hard to start on cold days.

YOU HAVE 2 TEMP SENSORS. 1 FOR GAUGE, 1 FOR COMPUTER. 2ND ONE MAY BE TELLING COMPUTER ENGINE IS ALREADY WARM.
