I just purchased some hand sanitizer, it says it kills 99.99% of germs, whats the other 0.01% it doesn't kill

I think it just ensures the fact that if you get sick after you use the hand sanitizer, then you can't blame them since there is the 0.01% chance you may get sick.

It cannot back its 99.99% claim up. It is simply false. Using hand sanitizers can actually increase the number of bacteria on your hands.

Hand sanitizers work by stripping off our body's own layer of protection from bacteria. It is true that they kill bacteria, but your hand is left defenseless and will have even more bacteria on it in a short period of time.

Most importantly, the bacteria that survive the hand sanitizer are the most dangerous ones.

Bottom line, use regular soap and water.

You dont want it to kill all the germs. There are germs that are "good" germs that you need to have. Plus, there are germs everywhere. On the keyboard you just typed this question on, (more than the .01% that the hand sanitizer didnt kill on your hands), your cell phone is the worst for germs, and those cute little rides you let your children ride on at the supermarket? They have all kinds of germs on them including traces of fecal matter. I wouldnt worry about the .01% that is left on your hands.
