Tell them that it is only the progress report, and that you WILL devote more time to your studies and make sure those grades are up for the report card. Don't lie to them, and tell them your going to really try if your not. Be sincere and tell them your going to devote time and actually do it.

Fess up. Don't make up phony excuses. Your parents will see right through them. Just tell them you slacked this term, but that you have resolved to do better this time. Then you actually have to do better! Just get your homework done and turn it in on time. If you turn in all your assignments on time and having done your best, you can't get terrible grades. You'll feel better, your parents will feel better, you'll get more privileges, and you'll be glad when you're older and you can get a better career. Good Luck!

hey hey, im just a little behind in my work, but its no big deal, i have talked to my teachers and they gave me some extra credit assignments. this is just a progress report and by the time grades go in for real they will be good... that buys you time then work your *** off to get them up.

The truth..... tell them NOW so they won't be shocked when your REAL grades come out. Let me say, from experience, you had better "get with the program". You have only one shot at school. If you don't get a good foundation NOW, you will forever be in a rut.

Tell them you'll try harder the next half of the term. And if you have any good legitimate excuses use them.
