I've always wanted to go to New Zealand, and i was wondering what some simple words are in the Maori language.

Kiora- Hello
Kei te pehea koe?- How are you?
Ko wai to nauma?- What's your name? (answer: "Ko [....] taku nauma!" )
Whanau- Family
Whare-House
Kai- Food
Tamariki- Child/children
Wahine- girl/ woman/ female
Tane-Boy/ man/ male
Iwi-tribe.


1-10 counting is, 1-tahi-2-rua-3-toru-4-wha(pronounced "Fa")
5-rima, 6-ono,7- whitu, 8-waru, 9-iwa, 10-tekau.

Haere mai- welcome/come here
Haere ra- goodbye/farewell
Ka pai!- very good!
Aotearoa- New Zealand
E tu- stand up!
E noho- Sit down!

Kia ora (kee-ya aura) - hello
Haere mai (ha ayray my) - welcome
Moana (moe ah-na) - sea
Kai (like 'tie' with a k) - food
Whanau (fa now) - family
