This is a stereotype that I have been curious about for a while now, I realize that not every person (or woman) is the same, but on a general scale do women seem to find type computer "types" unattractive. I suppose sources and statistics would be great.

Afraid I don't have any surveys to quote or anything, but from a personal standpoint I can certainly say that "computer types" are among my very favorite type ... in general I just find I have a lot in common with them, they're fun to talk to, I appreciate that they're usually not embarrassed to like "nerdier" types of pasttimes, and the fact that they tend to be highly intelligent is as attractive as can be.

Yessir, I do love me some geek guys =)

You are UNattractive if you exhibit any of the following:
- an inability to dress yourself correctly or match your clothes
- an inability to dress yourself without friend or parent helping you pick out clothes
- noticeable body odour
- noticeable odour coming from your bedroom
- wearing your pants high on your waist
- wearing socks with your sandals (and not on purpose or for a dare)
- lack of dental hygiene and un-repaired teeth

you are attractive if you have any of the following
- dressed well (and I mean at the least being able to match your clothes, like a t-shirt and jeans, or even the right business shirt with the right jeans looks hot)
- groomed hair and facial hair, wears deoderant/cologne in moderation
- bathes at least once in every 24 hour period
- cares how they look, ie has not "let themselves go"

There are many different computer types out there.
I would categorise the people I personally know into two groups.
1. The type that has no social skills, no girlfriend, who is also lacking in style and personal hygiene, who also seems to think they are "girl magnets"
2. They type that looks after their appearance, dresses well, has interests other than what can be done on the PC, and even if they are shy, they still go out and speak with people.

Generally, I think computer types are as attractive as any other group, unless you fall into type no. 1 described above

Hello,

I don't have statistics, but I am a woman. I think that qualifies me as a great source.

For me personally, I tend to find "computer types" undesireable because they tend to be really shy and not outgoing.

Here's an example:
I lived in the dorms at my college last year, and on the first day I asked a guy to help me set up my computer. He helped me out, and one of the first things he said was "wow you have a really nice monitor", I wasn't sure if he was actually refering to my computer screen or if it was some sick pick up line until he went over, and was admiring my computer monitor.

This guy was really cute, and he helped me out with my computer multiple times during the year. We also did homework together. Overtime he began to show me his true personality, and he was actually funny and such a nice guy. And, eventually he told me that he did realize that his compliment could have been taken a different way, but only after he had left my room.

Over the summer I found out that he had liked me almost all year, but was too afraid to do anything about it. Which is such a shame because I liked him as well. But because he was so shy, and it took him so long to show me his true personality I had just figured he was only interested in friendship.

I find guys attractive that are intelligant, considerate, funny, guys who have great personalities, who are out going, and I also consider their looks. But people have different perceptions as to what is physically attractive. I would just say that if guys were to open up and let down some of their inhibitions, they could experience something really great.

I hope this helps, and good luck!

It also depends on the computer type.
Generally speaking, I like computer types, and my friends are all big fans of geeks in general.
Depends on what types of girls you're going for. The blonde girls who spend their weekends clubbing and in the back seats of convertibles? No, I don't believe they generally like computer types. But the smart girls - including the hotsmart girls - tend to like smart guys, and computer "types" always give off the impression of being smart.
Plus geeks have a reputation for being sweet and loyal, and what girl with sense isn't attracted to that?

I'm not aware that computer types (did you mean "geeks"?) are unattractive...they are rarely the stereotypical "nerd" looking guy with a white shirt, glasses, and a pocket protector...

Nowadays, it's odd not to meet people (guys or girls) who aren't computer savvy on some level...computers are in nearly every facet of our lives...

No way. I started talking to both my ex's online.
And since I'm online a lot... it's most likely I'd meet people online as well.

But the boyfriend I have now, I actually met him through our friends.

The computer types are NOT unattractive. It shows how smart they are. : }

And me being a computer person, I have a lot of things in common with other computer people. Hehe.

LOL besides, I think everyone here's a computer person...........

All the "computer types" I know are so unattractive, they almost make my 70-odd-year-old chem teacher look good. I used to be friends with them, but then they got into Communism, and being the democratic socialist that I am, I lost touch with them.

I like for a man to able to do basic things on a computer, but I will admit to being turned off by "computer types". Generally they aren't as manly as other men. I know that is not true with all, but in my experience it has been.

I have always been attracted to a man that reads, has opinions, knows his politics, can fix his own computer issues, has a large vocabulary, dresses smartly and shows his passions. I consider my husband a computer type, but he keeps himself looking sharp, I sonsider that a big plus.

no, i mean.. as long as their computer "type" personality, if thats what you're saying, doesnt mix in with every aspect of their lives. or most aspects, anyhow... unless the girl they're with is into computers too. then i dont think she would mind if he talked about computers all the time.
