With 12 million or more illegal immigrants from Mexico and other Latin countries in the US and not much being done to reverse or even slow down the trend it seems to me that our government doesn't want to put an end to illegal immigration. Do you think there is another agenda or do you think the govenment wants to stop illegal immigration but is overwhelmed by the task?

As of now there is probably another agenda - such as drafting them into the army and sending them to Iraq/Iran with the promise that they can get green cards when (if) they survive.

Before 9-11 it would have been because there was not enough money to pay for more border guards.

What the government should have done was to clamp down on the people who make fake green cards and fake SSN cards.
And also to refuse entry to the schools of any illegal children.

As for the anchor babies, the government should simply refuse entry of ALL non-US born family members (of the US-born children) unless or until they apply through the legal channels. Once they are legal immigrants, there are of course no problems.

Cheap labor helps businesses. Our government, presently, seems more interested in helping businesses than the working class citizen. Historically when business did well the prosperity was passed on to the employee. Of course, now that employee is either an illegal or a citizen of India or Pakistan working at an outsourced call center.

Isn't it a sad declaration when our government uses our tax dollars to do exactly what we are telling them not to do?

You have to wonder...what is the ultimate payoff for coddling illegals at our expense....?

Because it is opposed by too many liberals. I say that we either secure our borders, or create a Union. This is hurting our economy.
