Check with Greyhound or Via Rail. It's probably faster by train.

The Greyhound Bus travels all across Canada so it will take you there and the price is right!. However, you will also stop in hundreds of small villages, towns and cities along the way. The journey could take several months!
You could consider putting an ad in the Bargain Finder newspaper asking to join a other travellers in a car. Offer to share the cost etc.
Or you could stand out near the Vancouver Cruise Docks every day for a month or two and pretend to be stranded and ask for money to get you home to Toronto.
Seems to work for a lot of people!
Cheers and good luck.

See if anyone needs a car driven across the country for them. Put an ad in the paper, classifieds, saying you will drive a vehicle to ontario or share the gas costs to travel with someone else who is going.

Otherwise, its getting pretty cold in the prairies for hitchhiking.

I'm from Vancouver, live in Toronto. They're both good for different reasons. Let's all love each other. :)

Go to http://www.travelzoo.com and do a search for flights, I found some as little as $225 from van to toronto.

Greyhound is $375
Via Rail is $440 ... and would be a far more pleasant trip.

Or you could put an ad in the local paper to see if anyone is driving there, and would like help with expenses.
