A dogs instinct will tell him to take a crap anywhere he stands. But they dont $hit inside of a house. Why? Free will. An ape can use sign language and have conversations, why? free will. Free will is a terrible excuse christians use to explain sin. Free will is a characteristic of living animals, not a super power giving by god to test whether you should get everything you've ever wanted in heaven or burn in a lake of fire for eternity.

Free will is merely an illusion, this can be demonstrated clearly and unarguably with a basic understanding of physics, chemistry, neurology, and computer science.
There is no free will.

taylor,from your viewpoint you are right. However i would take this opportunity to Give another view of this matter of free will,you may look at it also if you wish,but a closed mind can't "see". Many times i have been driving and some old dog will suddenly trot out to cross the road,i reach for the brake pedal knowing i am going to hit him,suddenly without looking,he stops then turns to look at me as i flash by. sometime i see the dog in time to slow down and the dog trots across without even looking my way. Three times i have hit a dog running full speed. DOGS THAT DO GODS WILL DO NOT GET RUN OVER< DOGS WITH FREE WILL SOMETIMES DO GET RUN OVER. Read romans 1-19/20. all things made of God know all there is to know of him,even unto the Godhead. You know the spirit of God is in your heart.

Free will means one has the ability to choose to do God's will our own will. When we do not live in accordance with God we sin. This is a perpetual state of Sin all humans are born with also known as original sin, basically there is no such thing as a purely selfless act by someone.
Whether animals have free will or not does not matter because they do not exercise it since they never ate of the tree of knowledge, they are ignorant of sin as Adam and Eve were.

i couldn't agree more. how about when you question their teachings and they throw these gems at you: you don't understand it. you haven't really read it. you haven't asked some combination of god and/or jesus to open your heart. you simply don't have enough faith. i was raised in a christian home, and although i never bought into it, i have read their bible--many times over. yes, REALLY read it. even as a small child i could see that it was illogical crap. i am amazed at how otherwise intelligent people fall for such a far-fetched and lame story. the "you just need more faith" line is the one that i find to be the most infuriating. i don't believe, so i just need to believe harder, then i'll believe. what the huh?

The Bible says "Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Someday you too will see who is Lord of your life. I pray for you it's sooner than later.
And by the way, my dog after months of training will go in the house every time if I'm not watching and taking him out every half hour. I guess its just the urge to go and a lack of obedience.
