Basically all societies at the time the Bible was written regarded women as lesser humans. Christianity is actually the most welcoming religions to women. That was a big factor to it's early success.Women aren't regarded as lesser humans. Read Proverbs 31, Ephesians 5, Titus 3, and 2 Peter 3. Eve was taken from Adam's rib to symbolize that a woman is to stand by her man's side as a helpmate not as a doormat or a leader. If doormat was to be her role she would have been taken from Adam's foot. If leader was to be her role she would have been taken from Adam's head. Christ himself gave deference to women. As for Christ being a liar, he's not. He couldn't be or he wouldn't be the savior. And giving us verses to try and prove a point are usless without the chapter. There are 28 chapters in Matthew, and 9 of those (if I counted right) have more that 41 verses.
Lilith is never mentioned in the Bible. So the answer below mine is useless from a Biblical standpoint.

The times of the Bible--women were slaves or chattle. Worse, when the bible was being chosen around 326, the church was dominated by men. Thus, I think any scripture that threatened their position was discarded.
In this I guess the Church Fathers of yore were real mothers, but not of the motherly sort.
My Mum and her mum were not the kind to roll over easily. My Dad was a Christian but of a better sort (good for him or Mum would not have stayed). His attitude was from the heart out, though. If Mum wanted to do something, he would usually say, "If that's what you want to do, I will pay for it."
Later when my brother and I were older, Mum went back to work, but Dad still wanted the best for her. He was never controling, and took delight in spending on her: If a four speed sports car, or new jewelry, he wanted to do for her.
So even smarter Christians today do not think the Bible fair. Probably the difference is between those who have a bit of education and think, opposed to brain washed fundamentalists.

Does the Bible regard woman as a lessor human? This is how the Bible speaks of Mary , a lady chosen to be the mother of Jesus: Most highly favoured lady, and Hail Mary, mother of Jesus, blessed is the fruit of thine womb, hail Mary mother of Jesus, pray for us sinners now and at the time of our death.Does this sound as if the Bible regard woman as a lessor human.Reflect on the words of an Afro-Caribbean song: Am I not a fine woman? I have borne ..... children,...... Jesus was born from a woman, and a man had nothing to do with that.

Keep in mind that not only was the bible written by the apostles, but it has been edited by all the popes there have ever been. If a pope, apostle, or anyone else who had influence doesn't like women, then you would see it in the bible. I like the bible and christianity, but it is dangerouse when a religous book can be edited like that. I myself do not put all my eggs in one basket, I looked into some other religions to see what connected. When you compare and contrast you can see an individual in christianity effecting the book, if you read a version of the bible you also have to read about what was changed and why. Every single thing in the bible has it's own editorial history. There are solid truths in there, but not everything in there is solid. Don't be too upset, if you want you can look into judaism or Islam to see there perspectives on women. Keep in mind, your allowed to learn and think as long as you don't allow your faith to stray from god, it's o.k. to look into other religions as long as you know your faith.

wrong! the bible teaches very clearly that men and women are equal but different. In fact if you read the genesis account of creation, man was incomplete without woman. We are the pinnacle of creation!
I would look at matthew and answer that but you didn't put which chapter the verses are in.

Because the Bible is wqritten by men to empower by putting fear into people and those same men believe women are inferior. It is not God's wish for either to be inferior or superior but to all be equal - it is only a human belief for the above reason.

I believe very little of what is written in any 'Holy book'
But I must admit that I agree with this bit about woman being a lesser human.
I'm pretty sure my wife and all her female friends are originally from Mars or certainly some where from outer space.
They are all certainly very lacking in logic.
Hope this helps????

The bible was written buy several men, a very long time ago, when sexism, racism, and every other form of bigotry was considered the norm. It wasn't written by god, or any other Deity. Man was not created in the image of god, god was created in the image of man. That is why everything in the bible is slanderous, demeaning and violent. Don't take it personally, just consider the source.
