Haha...I know the answer! But you made me promise not to tell anyone the answer, damn you. So I'll just take my 2 points and sit back and laugh at all the silly answers...that ok, "Jack"? If not, I'll delete this useless answer...

Edit: oh, fine, as everyone's too stupid to figure it out, I'll answer it. The answer is 0. The shape of the number 6 w/ no head is 0. The shape of the number 9 w/ no tail is 0. The shape of the number 8 cut in half is 0. You get it now?! You guys went for the actual fish, but the answer lies in the numbers themselves. I made the same mistake, too. NOW do u understand?

I hunted for the answer to this on the internet and couldn't find anything but this is what I have concluded to the riddle.

9

if 6 had no heads then those six had no tails and then 3 more had no tails which gives nice and eight of those fish were cut in half leaving only one hole one without a tail.

I don't know if that is right or not but it might be :-)

Id say 9 as the fish could be cut in half have no heads and have no tails or? seeing that 9 was the highest number there had to have been 9 or more fish.

hmm...19, or 31. YOu could count the 8 cut in half a couple different ways, you could put the halves together, which gives you four of them. OR, since the other fishes didn't have to be whole to count, you could count the 8 fish twice for being cut in half, which would give you 31.

9?
I figure that nine is the highest number of fish that we know that we got- whether 6 of them had heads or whether 8 were cut in half just sounds irrelevant to me- just my opinion

i would say 3, 1 hole one and two cut in half.

if six had no head and six had no tails (they were six of those that were cut in half) they don't exist. because there is nuthin left. three are now left 2 cut in half and 1 hole one

9 because you can have no heads and no tails and still cut in half
