You can be a devout Christian and be a "good Mormon". They're actually one in the same.
However, you shouldn't become or reactivate for someone else. It's a very personal thing. You have to do it for the right reasons, because you want to, because you want to draw closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, not because you love some one (even a spouse) or because you want to honor someones memory (like your Grandfather). You need to really ponder about it and decide if you are wanting to do this because YOU want it, or because you want to honor your Grandfather and make him happy. I think, if you're already a member - but inactive, you need to talk to your Home Teachers or your Bishop. If you're not already a member then you need to talk to the missionaries. If you talk with the missionaries you need to tell them up front that you have questions and need to talk, but that it may result in you not joining the church right now.

Absolutely not. Honouring your grandpa is one thing, but going to a false church is taking it too far. You say you are a devout Christian. That assures your salvation if you trust in Christ. You must know something about the Mormon church and how the things they say are so dramatically different than the historic Christian church. You will also know about the holes, anachronisms and contradictions in Mormon scriptures.

I understand your situation, I am a Christian, and I feel that if you are not ready then no you should not return to the church, especially not for your Grandfather, but for you!!!!! GOD knows your heart and if you are not yet ready to commit to the church with a full heart then maybe now is not the good time, however, you don't want to wait too long until it is too late if you know what I mean!!!!!
Hope this helps!!!!

I am LDS too and I agree with everyone in this matter. Conversion is a spiritual experience between you and God that occurs through study, prayer, and living Gospel principles. It is good that you wish to honor your grandfather, however, it would be a much greater honor if you first found out if what he believes is the truth. When you accomplish that, then you will know the answer to your own question as well as knowing waht God would want you to do.
If you would like to find out more, visit the church's website:
www.mormon.org
If you would like to visit with the missionaries, visit:

If you would like to attend church and see for youself, visit:

Good luck and please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help out.

It is right to follow Jesus - not a church. I am a Christian who worships in the Baptist church. I do not follow the church though - I follow Christ. Real Christianity is just this - search your heart and get to know Jesus, if you do not already have a relationship with Him. If you do, He will be your guide. Ask Him. Blessings to you.

In this life only one loyalty is really required and that is to Christ alone. At times it becomes a tough call to do. Do the right thing with your present faith and love your family without getting sucked in. For intellectual aids to provide a good defence for your faith go to http://www.carm.org/lds/lds_doctrines.htm
May the Holy Spirit comfort you thru this trial. That will be my prayer for you.

i don't think the morman church teaches the word of christ properly. don't do it for him do it for you, that is the only way the church will work for you and make you happy. if he was christian he won't mind which church you go to as he will see you again if you live a good life.

my father is mormon, and my mother is christian, they got married of their own will, they were blessed with nine children, i do believe in christians and some of my sibling believes in some religeous sect... we still respect each others belief. its just not a religion that count most, its on how you deal with the situation and most specially your outlook on physical and emotional aspects of life and a good relationship towards your husband and inlaws.

I don't believe you have to be a Mormon to see him again. Just remain devoted to your own principles, not someone else's.
