my dog has had to litters of puppies that were both born during the day. you have to watch their behaviour to be able to tell if they are about to give birth. my dog used to try and hide under the house because she wanted somewhere safe to have them. make sure you have an area ready for her that maintains her privacy and keeps her comfortable and warm. we had a small utility room in the garage and had blankets and cushions there. Also, make sure she has some food and water in case she needs it. I supose dogs can give birth during the day or the night but mine had both of hers during the day. Just keep an eye out for strange behaviour.

Most dogs tend to have their pups late at night or early in the morning. My Shih-tzu had hers starting at 10:30 at night and was done delivering the 6th pup by 12:30 am.

the breed of the dog has nothing to do with when they deliver. The gestational time frame for dogs is typically 63 days. Day, night, whatever doesn't matter. Most dogs will want to deliver when their people are home. Cats will usually want to deliver when the house is totally quiet.

Just like people having babies, there's no way to predict when the mom will go into labor. She just will when it's time. If you are concerned about being there when the time comes, you may have to be vigilent and even share a room when the due date gets closer so that you can be there as needed.

Dogs can have their pups any time day or night, but with my chihuahuas, maybe 75-80% will be at night, usually midnight, or on the weekends, or holidays when vets are closed in case you need help.

My bit ches are either early eve girls, or very early in the morning girls.
Do not have Doxies, but many bit ches prefer night. You don't get much sleep the two weeks before or the four weeks after!!!

They aren't trains or buses , they don't have a schedule like that. Just like humans, it is hard to tell at what time of day they will give birth

Mine had her under my bed, in the middle of the day. We had to crawl under the bed to get them out.
