I eat fast like a starving teenage boy. I try to eat slow but I just don't know what to think about that could slow me down. It's embarrassing always being the first to finish my meal... PLEASE HELP!!

Everyone gave alot of great answers...I've already tried a few on your suggestions...Thank you - it's making it difficult to descide who gets 10 pts.

1. Put your fork, spoon, or sandwich down between bites
2. Chew at least 10 times (20 is better) before swallowing
3. Pretend you are tasting each food for the very first time
4. Notice the texture of the food
5. Notice the temperature of the food
6. Notice the flavor of the food
7. Say one sentence between bites
8. If others are talking, count 10 seconds between bites
9. Take smaller bites

Count your chews between taking a bite. Chew your food at least 20 times between bites.

Put down your knife and folk when asked a question and don't pick them up or touch your food until you're done answering.

Don't take more that three bites of the same food in a row. Keep rotating the food and it will be more interesting and you'll eat slower.

Look around and observe others while eating. Don't get tunnelvision on the plate that is before you.

Look at your food, smell it, chew slower, basically be mindful of what you are eating. Also, you may not want to talk too much with others as you are eating as most folks lose track of what they are eating due to paying attention to the conversation. Have a glass of water with your meal as well. If you drink water before eating then you will not be as hungry so it will help you slow down. Good Luck!!

What I do is eat with my opposite hand (right for lefties and left for righties). Also, I make sure I chew at least 5-6 times before I swallow. Hope I helped!

a good way to slow down is to put your fork down between bites. When you do, you will chew your food. Also - every 3 or 4 bites, put your fork down and take a sip of water.

When you take a bite, chew that bite to the count of 20, then swallow, take a drink of water and repeat the process

Eat smaller bites. If you're eating peas, eat a pea at a time. If you're eating chicken, cut smaller bites. This forces you to eat more slowly.

just try really hard and eat little meals and if your still eating fast maybe that how you are and remember that no ones perfect so just eat fast theres nothing to be embarrassed about because you are who you are

use chop sticks youll barely be able to pick anything up therefore taking you longer.. thats y the are all soooooooo fricking skinningg =0)
