I live in Los Angeles, Ca. and would love to make one of my favorite dishes which is salmon with vodka cream sauce on a bed of sauteed spinach but I don't want to get sick and die. Has anyone heard if it's safe to eat spinach yet?

US FDA says spinach is safe to eat.

"The spinach that is going to come on to the market next week or whenever is going to be as safe as it was before this outbreak," Acheson (FDA) said....Acheson said food growers and processors will have to change some of their practices, although it is not yet clear which ones."I thought it would be after the conclusion of an investigation, with conclusions and reforms. I find it perplexing, if not shocking, that Dr. Acheson, for who I have great respect, would simply say all is clear without knowing why this outbreak happened and what we can do to prevent the inevitable next one - if history is any guide. See my earlier post on past outbreaks tied to lettuce and spinach in the Salinas Valley. Dr. Acheson's statements in the following Reuters article should cause us all grave concerns about consuming bagged spinach and lettuce:

If I lived in California (I used to ) I would give up spinach until next year, and then, I might just grow my own.

I live in the center of CA. My sister-in-law had a really big spinach salad the other. It didn't bother her at all and she is 88 years old, so I think it must be safe to eat now.

They cleared spinach, but personally the only spinich I am using right now is frozen. I can't seem to make myself buy the fresh stuff, even though they say it is safe. I'm not sure how they know, so I'm waiting awhile longer. Substitue another leafy veggy for the dish.

i've got been waiting to purchase spinach from solar Harvest and no detrimental reactions. It replaced into basically a undeniable style that got here in a bag, the grocery shops only bumped off all to be secure. Wash, wash, wash and rewash.
