traejake is on the right track. this is jewelry. think about the big names. de beers....tiffany.... what do they say? "elegant" or "class". Does "carat carriage" say that? I don't see it.
go for something no one has and MAKE the name. it doesn't even have to mean anything. surely you know "Haagen Daaz" doesn't mean a thing, and was made in New Jersey.
You'd be better off with a made-up word that sounds french than with something like "broach coach" that sounds fit for mobile homes.
Sorry if it's harsh, but seriously, it's jewelry. be classy, not trashy.

Your ideas are good - you're on the right track. Both are creative, but no holding power. It jumps away from being classy and professional.
You can play off of the Appalachian aspect. Or its origin: Appaleches. Or the explorer who named the range: Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca. Some ideas:
Appa Jewels
Pala Jewels
Lachian Jewels
Appalachian Jewels
Cava Jewels
Varca Jewels
In your advertising, you could play off the size of your jewels being comparable to the size of the Appalachians. Or how they don't have to manage a major feat - like climbing the Appalachians - do find the right jewel.

Go ahead and use "Jewlery". You'll get so many walkins telling you that you misspelled "Jewelry" that you'll be able to tell them about your business
