There is no proof that God does not exist.
Think about it: if God does not exist, then there cannot be any proof of His non-existence. You can never prove that something does NOT exist.
So, what does that make a person who believes that God does not exist (aka atheist)? Someone who believes something based on no evidence. And what do we call a belief based on no evidence? Faith.
Atheism is just another religion, with all the texts, all the dogma, and all the faith necessary for any other mainstream religion.

The basic problem with showing non-existence of anything is to get a detailed enough description so that you *know* you would see it if it did exist.
For example, it's impossible to say that unicorns don't exist anywhere in the universe. It's difficult to say they don't exist on earth, but it is quite easy to show they don't exist in my apartment. If they did, I would see them!
In the same way, until there is a good enough description of what thenoun 'God' means, it is impossible to show either existence or non-existence. If you ask specifically about the 'God' described in the Bible and supposedly responsible for various things mentioned there, it is difficult, but not impossible to show the non-existence. If you allow a space-alien type of God that came by and wowed everyone on earth a few thousand years ago, it might well be impossible to show the non-existence of such a thing.
The whole question also gets into the rather deep problem of what it means for something to 'exist'. We all agree that Santa Claus and Moby Dick don't exist. Why? How would you prove something does not exist? The answers are possible, but not easily done in this forum.

can the fetus prove we exist? do they even know of us?
how can we prove a thing that technically speaking is everything and nothing at the same time?
we cant. faith, as blind as it is makes people believe without proof.
non-believers do not believe through lack of it.
both are focused on what isnt happening, some make the nothing form meaning, others dont.
we would be better as a human race to forget god, and let god worry about us. either way then, we cant lose.

Geez.. the answers here are making my head hurt! I think it is all about personal experience. I felt God touch me one time when I was a child praying for my dad after he had a heart attack. It was the coolest thing! That is how I know he exists. My atheist friends believe that because they can't see God he is not there, but I think you have to believe first.

Is there proof that He does exist?
It's all about beliefs and faith. You can believe that something happened with divine intervention, or you can believe that something happened because it was just going to happen anyway.
That's the beauty of God--no one can prove 100% that He exists. No one can prove 100% that He does NOT exist.

Because a god doesn't necessarily exist in a physical sense or impact on anything in a measurable way, it's impossible to prove one doesn't exist.

We can't
but if he does exist,
1. He's either evil or not too bright
2. I refuse to worship something that thinks murdering Christians deserve to go to heaven before Atheists who haven't killed anyone
3. I dont think a god like that exist
4. I'm not afraid of something that has a good chance of not even existing
5. So, I can boldly say "God is just as fake as the tooth fairy"

Although I do believe in God, there's no proof that God really exists (the bible is not proof). So really, the question should be "How can we really be sure that God DOES exist?"
