Errr... i will suggest if you can write the whole complete question of your assigned work so that we will have a better understanding of what is electric panels. And so, we can have a more accurate answer.

As far as i know, your question is too broad to answer. Electric Panels can be a form like Big switchboard to small Distribution board, then to custom made board and as small as the single led electric panel.

Sizes and thickness is varied and different standard call out for each desigh. Eg. Big switchboad can have Form 2, 3, 4 and 5. and so on...

in simple terms, an electrical panel is supplied by conductors (wires), and has outputs to one or more circuits.

The branch circuit in your home are an example. Relatively large conductors bring power from a source, and distribute it on several circuits. . These circuits have overcurrent protection in the form of fuses or circuit breakers. Wire size is chosen by the amount of current expected to be served, and overcurrent devices are selected to protect those wires from overheating if the rated loads are unsafely overloaded.

Also you will have an electrical panel associated with the electric company's meter. This panel may have a single output circuit, or it may feed more than one branch circuit panel.

The same arrangement is used in industry. One often hears the term motor control center. This is usually a collection of several individual electrical panels, each serving a different load.

Take a look at the web pages of Square D and Cutler Hammer to get more familiar with them.

Are you talking industrial electric panels, the kind that go on assembly machines?
