I know you have heard this before I am sorry for your loss, I do not know how you feel personally but I have lost alot of people young people in my life and know it can be hard.
I only believe in having a tattoo of a person say if it is in memoriam in your case of name of a child.
It depends on what you want, size, area as well.
If you are more spiritual a Cross--a unique cross with the words "RIP bee 04/20/1986-11/03/2006" somewhere on the cross would be cool...with a "bee" sitting on the cross or maybe a couple of bee's flying around the cross in kind of a "halo" fashion. It is kind of hard to describe without sketching it.
If you want something unique look I would stay away from a Tribal cross or scroll lettering however these are beautiful styles as well.
I have 5 tattoos. I live in North Dakota and there is only one place I would go to get a tattoo...his name is Randy Mastre here is his link...I know you probably don't live in North Dakota but he helped design two tattoos of mine from his head in a matter of minutes and they are awesome...among that he is a Nationally known tattooist as well. So if you want to you can email him and he might be able to help with a design as well with the components you want unless you already have a tattooist you like and trust that is good too.
Here is a link if you want--http://www.randym.freeservers.com/index.html
Good luck hope this helps...have a good one--jammieGirl

First of all I am so very sorry for your loss. Have you thought of incorporating the dates on either side of the wings and RIP on the body of the Bee? But in a discreet way? Perhaps in the shading? Or Maybe a bee flying upwards? Do you have a nick name? Would you be able to the symbols together? I'll keep an eye on this one. Good luck and again I am sorry. Take care.

It depends on the size of the bee because putting in the date of birth and the date of the passing is a little long for a small bee. Maybe just put in RIP and the date of passing around a bee.

You could get a really unique looking bee, and above the bee you could get RIP Bee on a banner with some cool script, and below the bee you could get a banner that says the dates on it.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
Maybe what you could get instead of the name is a bee from the top with wings outstretched, then on one wing get his birth date and the other wing his date of passing.
That way it's not explicitly so but you know what it means and then you can explain it to everyone else if they ask. I think it will look just wonderful.

Something with meaning huh? Well how can a load of strangers give you ideas that are meaningful to you? Only you can decide what is meaningful, to some people their butterfly tattoos are deeply meaningful, it's just not your taste, that's all. Sorry but this is something you have to research and decide for yourself.

You could always get a bee and flowers, which seems really obvious but different species of flowers have different meanings, as well as the color.
Here are some ideas:
Forget-me-nots and rosemary mean "remember me".
Rue symbolozes grief.
Sweetpea is symbolic for goodbye.
Weeping willow stands for sadness and grief.
Zinnia and pansies mean "thinking of you".
Cyclamen = goodbye.
A long-stemmed rose stands for "I'll remember you always".
A white carnation symbolizes remembrance, which I think would be perfect.
Terribly sorry for your loss, hope this helps.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I agree with Honey though. If you just have a simple bee, then you will know what it means and people will ask you and then you can tell them what it means.

Sounds like you have your memorial to him designed in your mind already. The beauty of tattoos is that they allow you to express yourself. The down fall is the permanency.
Location is key and I recommend giving yourself time to mourn before committing to the tattoo. The initial loss is very hard to cope with and this may be a spur of the moment idea to help you cope.
p.s. I'm sorry for your loss, he must have been special to merit your commemoration to his memory.
