Do it all over again in 7 - 10 days to get the eggs that will be hatching. It's a never ending revolving door if you do not repeat.

I would board your dogs - get them a professional flea bath - and then bomb your house again. Don't let the dogs come back home until you are sure there are no fleas in the house. Then make sure you do a monthly flea treatment. I really like Frontline. I had this same issue with ticks. I would bomb the house, bathe the dog and they just kept coming back until I got her out of the house long enough to kill all of the ticks. Good luck!!

OTC products don't work and they can cause some very serious neurological issues even death so don't use them any more.As for bombs they are a waste of money..unless you remove all furniture from your house before you use them they won't work..the bomb goes up in the air and then back down on surfaces where fleas don't even go.
Go to your vet and get a safe flea product such as Frontline or Advantage. Also vacumn your house thoroughly every day paying particualr attention to under furniture, couch & chair cushions, around baseboards, etc. Once done vacumning throw the bag away in an outside trash container. This will prevent the fleas from reinfesting your house.

Need a little more information. You have a Whippet but you don't say what conditions it lives in. Do you have other dogs? Do you have grass? Is your dog an indoor or outdoor dog? Is it crate trained? How often do you bathe your dog? Do you have carpet or wood floors? What have you done in your house to prevent fleas? What have you done for your yard front/back for your dogs for fleas? Do you have a pooper scooper schedule? When was the last time you inspected the area your dog lives in? Okay so I totally believe in a company called "FleaBusters" I brought them into a house that I had just purchased and the people had a cat....I'm a dog person, and we had 2 dogs. My dogs seem to get fleas INSTANTLY and I freaked out as they had NEVER had fleas EVER! FleaBusters came in and the put down a product called Diatomichious Eath and then put it everywhere. They let it set for several hours and then came back and cleaned it all up with high powered vacuums. I NEVER had another flea issue....EVER! Suggestions are.....take your pets out of the house and "bomb"the place.Buy the things at Costco or Ace/ When you apply shampoo for a dog, you start at the NECK and work down towards the tail, this stops the fleas (if any) from moving up into the ears, nose, eyes. Make sure you let the shampoo set for several minutes (to kill fleas). Before you do a treatment of the dog, you need to treat the entire area. Start from the top of the house and work down (only if the dog has full roaming of the house). You need to either "bomb" the house or you can spread a powder that comes in a can you can spread over the carpet and let it sit. You can actually use Baking Soad and spread it out all over all of the carpeting and let it sit for 24 hours. What happens is the fleas try to absorb the powder and the choke and die. You can do this with flea powder or something called Diatomacious Earth, or you can use canned pet spray and "bobmb" the room yourself or let off one of the "bombs" ;they sell Costco sells a pack of them. If you use this method you need to treat the house and then you need to treat the dog. Wash from the neck down and do this at the Doggie Wash or send them to the goomer. Try to keep the dog out of the house for several hours if possible. It sounds silly but if you keep vacuuming every day then the chances of fleas keeps being reduced substancially. Pay attention to your pup in the early morning, using a simple flea spray or powder and put it on them starting at the neck and working down toward the rear, just put it on and work it into the skin of the dog. "bombs" It's just a good bonding time and the powder, spray will stop any eggs, fleas in their tracks.... Be careful, be consistant and you will be successful.

First treat your dog with Frontline once a month year round.
Second, if have a fenced in yard you need to use a good bug spray the whole yard at least in spring and winter.
I do this with my area, have 4 dogs and never had a problem with fleas or ticks.
Good luck.

I recommend using Frontline.
Fronline comes in 3 products--1. Frontline Spray (Quick elimination of existing flea and tick infestations)
2. Frontline Top Spot (All the benefits of FRONTLINE Spray in a convenient topical application)
3. Frontline Plus (All the benefits of FRONTLINE Top Spot with an extra ingredient,
(S)-methoprene. Not only kills adult fleas, but also breaks the flea life cycle by killing their eggs and larvae, preventing re-infestation)
You can find more information about Frontline @

I would suggest frontline on your dogs to get rid of them and keep them gone. If you still feel they are in the house get a bowl put some water and dish washing soap enough to make it soapy and the shine a light in the water overnight and when you wake up if you have fleas in your house they will be dead in the bowl. This will let you know that treating the house is still needed. It might take a professional to get rid of them.

I had this problem once before so what everyone has told you so far is correct. I found that Advance worked really good, but you MUST repeat the process of bombing or unhatched eggs will just continue. Also a good spray all around the yard and especially in the entrance doorways as well as where the dogs usually sleep.Good Luck!

If you feed a low quality dog food, i.e., brands that can be bought in a grocery store (Purina, Cycle, Old Roy, Gravy Train, Kibbles N Bits, etc.) it's immune system will be lower and make the dog more susceptible to parasites such as fleas. If you are feeding your dogs this type of food, try switching to one of the higher quality foods, or even better yet, a homemade or raw diet.

Keep vacuuming the house and especially the areas where your dogs spend most of their time. Don't use flea collars on the dogs! Instead, buy a collar and then cut it into one inch pieces and put it in your vacuum bag, then when you do vacuum up eggs and fleas, they will die in the bag!!!! Environmental control is essential and never ending!
