I am 27 years old and about to graduate from college. It's taken me longer than most because I've devoted alot of time to care for my schizophrenic mother and my elderly grandmother. Last semester, I finished an internship which I really enjoyed. Unfortunetely, I was unable to get a job there because the company is soo small. I've had this seasonal job but it ended a few weeks ago so I began job hunting. I haven't found anything yet. I've been on 3 job interviews and am waiting to hear back from one which seemed like it would be great for me.

Right now, my family is depressed because of our financial situation and I'm not doing any better since I am not working. I just sit home and feel useless.. I don't know what to do with myself.. :-(

If you're religious, have faith. If you're not religious still have faith that something will come through. You deserve something special for all the things you've done for your family. Keep hunting for jobs because that is all that you can do and eventually someone will recognize your contributions. Hang in there.

I see you're "depressed" because of "events". Please get two books which are right up the alley of this subject of how you approach life. You're saying things to yourself which hypnotise you into this feeling you called depression. So a little deprogramming is called for.

First book ASK AND IT IS GIVEN by Abraham and Esther Hicks
She is channeled. Husband takes the notes. Not too much said about that after the beginning of the book. It's just a lot of insightful messages as how to get what you want in this world and how to make your moods good. Esther even lists the various heirarchy of feeling and suggests when you know which one you're in you should think of something that would be the next level and go to that level and that will pull you out of it. I think the level up from depression is anger. Then you just keep going up as slowly as need be with simple ways to do it. This gal is unique. Her writing keeps you very positive. This book gives you something to work with that works.
B&N has it. Or look it up on internet.

The second book is a gem of understanding on what's crippling your spirit I've used it for many years and always suggest it to other people who feel confusion with this world. It can be sent for. It was $8 when I bought it.
Practical insightful interesting, so don't be scared off by the name.

If it doesn't sound right for you then it definitely is. Why? Because you've been sucked into one way of thinking. And it isn't working for you. You have to make a brave leap into another way of thinking.
Your whole letter has a language of despair. And the language will keep you in despair. No reward will lift you for long. You can change this by changing to good mentors in life such as those I suggest above.

If this rings a bell don't procrastinate a day on getting reading and discovering your authentic self.

Your mother probably is strong enough to run your life too and wont let you see what she refuses to see. You must drop all your wrong expectations for sex and love or your brain will destroy you the way hers did. At your age you need to plan out everyday the night before. Just do it... get serious. You now are driving the good ship self. Remember your dead grandfathers and look to them to guide you in the foggy times.

Exercise can be a good way of lessening depression. Start a vigorous exercise program. If that doesn't help within a few weeks consult a doctor about antidepressant medication

Depression is not a funk..

It's normal to feel that way in that situation when you have no job. I also think you're meaning BOREDOM.
If not, you should probably add more info to your question because I fail to see how that makes you depressed compared to just plain bored and restless.

You should go to church and see if thy have a group for people that are unemployed. There are a lot of businesses that will go and look for the employees there before thy go anywhere else because thy are looking for honest people, i know that my church has one. Call Donald J Blaz he may be able to tell you about some websites and other info or even get you a good job. He knows a lot of business people ( he is from Memphis though, but call him anyway and just tell him your situation, it wont hurt to call)

Sorry to tell you but you must get out on your own. Get out of that house now.
Keep in mind schizophenia is in the genes and can be passed down to other generations. You can be depressed with it too. Read about the disease. My mother has it and I had to get away from her. My one brother who stayed at home with her until he was 35 is now dead. He got the flu and it ruined his heart. But she always kept him heavy to keep him home. It was her ploy she did not want to be lonely. If he was obese no one would want him, he would never marry and she could keep him home with her. Unnatural yes, rational no. His weight helped kill him.

This disease is bad for those around it. They hear voices, think others want to harm them or are listening to their conversations and they do not want to be around people. Many conversations go on in the head.

All us kids were born with out it but my brother (Tim) since he lived with her so long (35 yrs) she was rubbing off on him. He became paranoid too in more minor ways. My other brothers son was born with it too and he can not function on his own and he is 28. If robs you and everyone around you of their lives.

Get out on your own. The depression should lift if not see a doctor as there are meds for depression. You need to get a job (any job) for now to get on your own. I realize you want to help your families finances but you are a young person who needs to help yourself first.

I got out and never looked back. I have been helping my mother financially now for about 15 years but I do not and will not live with her. She now lives behind my home in her RV. I can tolerate that and she has her space and I have mine.

decide what you want to do with your lie in that time which you do nothing... and post a resume online showing that.
