I'm not looking for any ideas, as I don't have children yet; however, I am interested to know what ideas parents come up with to keep their children occupied during the weekends. I know some parents don't like to let their children spend too much time watching t.v. or playing video games...so, what other things do you find for your kiddos to do, that keeps them boredom free on the weekends?

I let them play around while I do my chores, and when I am done, I would sneak in into their plays, act like a monster, a gangster, or anything that could thrill them.

Sometimes we make our own version of the DEAL OR NO DEAL television show, or a classroom type of scenario, only we do not study the things they study in school, but things like toys, candies, etc.

Take them to the library and pick out two books. Have them read the books and give you a verbal book report on the favorite of the two.

Then tell them you'll give a surprise to the one who gives the best report, giving points for originality, enthusiam and clarity.

Then of course reward the child or both children which is what I did.

One has a masters in English and the other works with abused children.

Good kids or adults now :-)

I live about 10 min. from a wildlife reserve that has a beautiful waterfall and a cave. It's called Charleston Falls. My son and i go hiking there almost every weekend and we like to go fishing too. My son's only 3 1/2, but he loves it.

We go camping in the fort of our swing set, we hunt dragons and unicorns in the "spooky forest" up the street, we paint on the kitchen floor with washable paint, we drive around and sing songs about things we see, we go to the park and have sand fights, my daughter and I take baths together and pretend we are in the ocean, we read stories, we make up stories, we pretend Daddy is a lion and we try to sneak up on him, we chase the cats, we draw things to send to Grandpa, we bake cookies and do laundry.

We let her imagination soar, and we follow.
